Curiosities

Solarflare was not happy.

The last encounter with Decepticons had gone awry for the Autobots and though it had been three days since the incident, many were still in the medbay, Mirage included. This left Solarflare in a dark mood and she doubted it would pass until Mirage and the other downed bots were back on their feet. She had hoped that her extended scouting trip would make her feel better and dispel some of her dark thoughts, but it had seemed to have the opposite effect.

Being alone had only given her time to think and to play the memories of the confrontation in her mind over and over again. She was now in an even worse mood than when she had left the Ark.

Part of her wished that there were some Decepticons around, then she could vent her frustrations and anger out on them, but she hadn't found a single one, nor any sign of activity in the area. Now she was flying back towards the Autobot base, having finished her scouting assignment.

As she soared through the air in her harpy eagle mode, her optics scanned the ground below her and unexpectedly, something caught her gaze. In a field below her, rabbits were bouncing around and enjoying the sunshine. In the foul mood that she was, the simplest things irritated her and seeing the critters enjoying the day by playing around and having fun grated on her nerves and her raptor-like instincts began to make themselves known.

She wouldn't hurt them and even though she knew she shouldn't, Solarflare circled above the small fluffy mammals several times (though they seemed to ignore her) and then dived down towards them, talons out and shrieking loudly at them, hoping to scare them. The rabbits looked up and most of them scattered, but one of them stayed in the same spot, twitching its nose and ears.

'Why aren't you running away?' Solarflare thought, still diving down towards it, getting more concerned that she was going to land on it.

But a few seconds before she reached it, the rabbit did something it shouldn't have - it disappeared. Optics widening in pure surprise, Solarflare managed to pull herself up before hitting the ground, dismayed at what she had just seen. As she got high enough to circle again, she saw the other rabbits still in the field watching her.

"What the frag?!" Solarflare muttered to herself and then narrowing her optics, she dived at them again.

Just like before many of them scattered, but several stayed put. And just like before, the rabbits that remained vanished when Solarflare got too close. This time, Solarflare did hit the ground, transforming into bot mode just before landing. Immediately she looked at the other rabbits and before her very optics, every single one of them disappeared.

"What is going on?!" Solarflare growled, feeling as though she was being toyed with.

"Sorry, 'Flare, I couldn't resist."

Solarflare's head snapped around towards some trees and in a second, one of them faded to reveal Hound, who looked sheepishly at her, having used his holographic projector to hide himself and create the illusions of the rabbits.. She didn't say anything for a minute, too stunned to comprehend what had just happened, but then she narrowed her optics.

"Best friend or not, Mirage will hurt you." She growled a little.

"I was just trying to help." Hound replied. "You've been tense and, as the twins like to say, fragged off for the past few days. I thought this would help you to vent out some of your anger. And to be honest, I needed something to do to take my mind off our last encounter with the cons too."

Solarflare blinked at the Autobot tracker and then couldn't help but smile. Hound always tried to help her if she was in need and when Mirage couldn't help her, and she did feel a little bit better.

"Thank you, Hound. I appreciate it." She said. A thought then came to her mind and slowly she grinned. "You know what else would help me feel better?"

"What?" Hound asked.

"Think you can use that holographic projector of yours to whip up a seeker or two?" Solarflare grinned with a darkly mischievous twinkle in her optics.
