SSJMihoshi! I have a Blackwing for you!

Blackwing sat on a ridge that over looked a picturesque valley.  A small, meandering river rolled through the verdant slopes, shining like a silver thread as the midday sun glistened off its cool, inviting waters.

It was an invitation that Blackwing could not ignore.  Transforming into his raven alt, he took to the sky, gracefully floating on the warm currents of air that were rising from the earth below him.  Slowly he spiralled down until he finally reached the valley floor, landing next to the river.

The river babbled and splashed as it passed by, and, taking advantage of the situation, Blackwing decided to indulge in a rare treat.  The corvid hopped to the river’s edge, carefully inspecting the bank until he found just the right spot that was shallow and the water was nearly still.   A cautious foot tested the temperature and, finding it most acceptable, he leapt in and bathed himself.

As the refreshing waters dampened his feathers, Blackwing’s thoughts turned to the significance of the day.  It had been a year ago that the fateful raid on Tarantulus’ lair had taken place.

It had been a heated battle, and Blackwing refused to fight but Tarantulus had convinced him it was imperative that he held the Maximals off.  Little did the naive mech know that he was only being used so that the spider might escape, thus virtually throwing him to the hounds.

Blackwing splashed a bit more forcefully at the memory of how often the Predacons had taken advantage of him and then jumped to the riverbank.  The raven shook, sending a spray of diamond-like droplets into the air and then began to groom and smooth his ruffled feathers.

Although events immediately following the fight were more than a bit hazy to him, much to his surprise, the Maximals had taken him in and repaired him.  It had been a long road to recovery considering the damage to his memory tracks  sometimes led to him reverting back to his Predacon nature, but they had never given up on him.  In fact, they had even started training him as a field medic, which was something that Blackwing had been very pleased about.  He considered being able to help his fellow Maximals in such a way a small token of appreciation for all they had done for him.

The raven flapped his wings a few times, allowing the air to circulate and help to dry them.  Blackwing sighed contentedly as the sun warmed his glossy black feathers.  Although, it hadn’t been long before his black, jewel-bright eyes looked around, scanning his surroundings for any trouble that might be near, but found none.  All the same, it was never a good idea to be out alone for too long.

In fact, Optimus must have been thinking the same for as Blackwing preened a few more feathers, his comm line crackled into life.

::Blackwing, you’ve been gone for quite a while.  Why don’t you head back now.::

Blackwing’s powerful wings beat the air and he rose from the valley floor.

::Yes, sir, I’m on my way.  Oh, and Optimus?::

::Yes, Blackwing?::

::Thank you for, well, everything you’ve done for me.::

Optimus Primal smiled to himself.

::You’re quite welcome.  And happy anniversary.::

The comm went silent and Blackwing let out a joyous caw as he winged his way back to his true home.
