Bluestreak slammed on his breaks. After screeching to a halt, he waited for the deer his headlights had revealed to move.
After a few seconds, the dear in the middle of the road jumped up the hillside, vanishing almost as quickly as it had appeared. “That was close.”
Spike Witwicky groaned, holding his head where it had hit the Autobot’s dashboard. “You’re telling me - a little warning next time, please.”
“Sorry, Spike.” Bluestreak continued his mad dash down the mountain. “I know you’re in a hurry, but I couldn’t run over the deer.”
“It’s alright.” Spike removed his had, placed it back on his aching forehead. “Most cars don’t surrive a head-on-collison with dear - and a black-n-blue bump is a lot more survivable than being pierced by antlers, or tree limbs, or being scratched by windowshards, anyway.”
Bluestreak fell silent as he mulled over the almost-accident. “What happens if something smaller gets hit by a car?”
“Usually, the animal becomes roadkill.”

“It will remain a once-in-a-lifetime treat if the new Magnus doesn’t get his aft handed to him by Megatron - and Sentinel Prime didn’t have much luck in keeping the cons complacent before, did he?”

“I think Optimus would make a better Magnus, Scoundrel.”
“Optimus? He was kicked out of the Elite Guard!”

“Thank you for noticing, Grimlock.”
“What you Ratchet fall in?”
“A tarp pit.” Ratchet grumbled. “After I get my servos to them, there will be nothing left.”
“Who them?” Grimlock trotted alongside the discolored medic.
“The crazy mechs who thought it funny to shove me headfirst into the tar.”
“Dropped paint funny. Bag feathers not.”
On his way to the washracks, Ratchet stooped. Looked at Grimlock. “Why would feathers be included?”
“Spike said sometimes humans punish by tar and feather - make victim laughing stock. Grimlock not laugh.”
“Figures.” Ratchet vented. “I am not looking forward to getting repainted.”

Summary: Ratchet doesn’t believe Sideswipe when he said he wasn’t being punished when Sideswipe showed up to clean. First Aid isn’t sure what to believe either.

First Aid was stocking the medical supplies, just waiting for his late-night visitor to show up. Right on time the doors opened.
“Hey, Aid.” Sideswipe greeted, as he reached for the pile of grungy and grime-filled gears, saws, and blades before dumping them in a large container.
“Hey, yourself.” First Aid responded, sorting the parts he’d already cleaned. “So … how long until Prowl decides you’ve fulfilled your punishment duties?”
Sideswipe paused in his filling the bucket with cleansing fluid. “Punishment? You think me coming to the medbay after Ratchet goes off duty and helping you and the other medics clean up is punishment?”
“Normal mechs escape Ratchet’s domain as soon as possible.”
“Most mechs don’t see how much effort Ratchet gives in trying to save everyone.” Sideswipe countered softly. “Since Ratchet blows off thanks - and throws me out every time I tried helping out while he’s on duty - I figured I’d find another way of showing my appreciation.”
“Pretty sure he’d appreciate it more if you and your twin stopped the Jet-Judo.”
Sideswipe reached into the fizzing bucket of cleaning solution, dried off the now-sparkling clean equipment. “Sunstreaker once asked Prowl to calculate the damage unopposed seekers could do. The results … were not pretty.”
