Title: Trial run one
Characters: Cosmos, Thundercracker
Rating: K
Series: Generation 1
Summary: Cosmos wants to learn how to fly - the only one willing to help him figure out how to fly is Thundercracker.
Prompt # 1 Combine two Prompts: 2012(10th Nov #6 ‘Any landing you walk way from is a good one”) and 2011 (15h January setting - on top of a very high building)

Two younglings stood on an artificial pinnacle in the grand city of Tiger Pax.

“Whoa!”  Gushed the stout green mechling.  “You can see everything from up here.”

His lean, navy-blue companion flicked his wings.   “It’s not home.”

“Cracker, you don’t think any skyscrapers remind you of home.”  The shorter figure drew closer to the edge, looked down to the city streets below.  “Look down there, Cracker!  Everyone looks so small.”

Cracker glanced downwards, hopped over the safety railing, and hovered in mid air.  “Groundlings, ugh.”

The stout mechling decided to join his companion.  He clambered over the metal railings, took a giant leap off the edge …

And fell.

Cracker recued the power to his thrusters, circled above the falling green mech, followed him down to the hard, unforgiving ground a mile down.

Contrary to Cracker’s expectations, the mechling, though unable to hover and fly like a true seeker, did manage to somewhat control his downward spiral - mostly by slowing his otherwise unpowered fall.

Dazed, the stout mech pushed himself up and out of the formed crater.  “That was fun!  Let’s do it a gain.”

Cracker shook his head.  “Cosmos, don’t you ever quit?”

“Nope.”  Cosmos smiled.  “Maybe if I jumped off a higher platform, I can fly like you!”  The two younglings ran for the building they’d jumped off earlier.

Title: Questions to ask
Characters: Robert Epps, Jorge Figg
Rating: K
Series: Bayverse
Summary: This looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship - Jorge Figg wants to know more than what his fellow NEST members are willing to settle for.
Prompt # 2 Scene rewrite (new genre).

“Aliens.”  Jorge Figg shock his head, disbelieving.  “Aliens that look like giant robots.”

Robert Epps waited for his battle comrade to absorb the information he’d just been confronted with.

“So,”  And here it came, the first question of many.   The part Epps could almost answer in his sleep. Everyone introduced to the Autobots had similar questions: someone could have produced a FQA handbook for all newbie’s, but any written pamphlet would defeat the secrecy aspect of NEST.

“So,” Jorge cleared his throat.  “Anybody ask them ‘bout their lives and stuff?”

“Not yet.”  Epps pulled out a pen and notepad.  “I can make a list - starting with your questions.”

Title: New Family Member
Characters: Miles Lancaster
Rating: K
Series: Bayverse (preseries)
Summary: Reuniting lost pets with their owners is one of the joys of working with animals.
Prompt # 3 Someone gets a new pet.

“Thank you for volunteering to work here.” The lady gushed as she led Miles Lancaster past occupied dog-kennels and cat-crates.  “We don’t get enough people willing to help take care of every stray and abused animal that comes in.”

Miles trotted to keep up with her brisk walk.

“The puppies and kittens need to be played with, the adult dogs need to be walked at least ten minutes each.  … Don’t rush to feed everyone, cause the way they fight over the rations, some would get nothing -“

Miles nodded as his trainer rambled off a long list of chores, responsibilities and daily duties.  Every time Miles thought he’d be overwhelmed by a ‘Don’t forget to do this’ or a ‘We do this every’ Miles reminded himself he could do this.

He would do this.

The Lancaster parents would only allow Miles a dog if he could prove he was capable of taking care of one.   He really wanted a dog.

Three weeks into his first stretch as a summer-volunteer at the local pet-shelter, Miles spotted a dog he was determined to see rescued.

Five days after the huge mastiff came in, no one had claimed him.

The sixth day, after getting off work, Miles asked if he could adopt one of the unwanted pets.

That night, twenty-seven days after starting his unpaid summer job, Miles brought Mason home to meet the family.

Title: Overseas stay
Characters: Robert Epps
Rating: K
Series: Bayverse (premovies)
Summary: Some injuries need more time (or specialized equipment) that isn’t available on field.  So, the wounded (and sick) go to hospitals, like most civilians.
Prompt #4 Random Word Generator: (parasite, moss, trolley, duty, Italy)

Recovering from Malaria in the medical hospital stationed in Italy, Robert Epps wished he didn’t have to report for duty the day after all blood-tests confirmed the blood-born pathogen had been irradiated.

“I thought immunization cocktails were supposed to prevent any parasitical infections from taking hold.”  He addressed the nurse after his fever broke.  “Not that I’m complaining about being stationed next door to Beautiful Italy, but I’m supposed to be with my team in .. classified.”  He shut his mouth, determined not to ramble or reveal stuff he wasn’t supposed to know.

Two days later, while the medicinal drugs were killing the last of the stubborn microscopic virus, the same nurse dropped a tourist pamphlet next to his head.

“Go out and see the city.”  She smiled.  “You’re not contagious - spending time outside will improve your health faster than being cooped up indoors.”

Robert slipped on non-regulatory shoes and socks.  “Professional opinion or fact?”

“Wandering about in Italy is always better than trying to find a moss colony and watching it grow.”

Properly dressed, Robert laughed, ran to met the trolley that would take hi to the city proper.  As long as he came back before roll call after dinner, no one could claim he went AWOL.

Title: Stepping Forward
Characters: Seaspray, Beachcomber
Rating: K+
Series: Generation 1
Summary: Taking time out of one’s day can create a telling difference in the life of a stranger - and change the course of the future.
Prompt # 5 Choose a minor character, tell a story from their youth.

A small red visored figure sat on the dock, feet dangling above the Rust Seas.

Seaspray, off duty, tired and just wanting to recharge, considered walking past the single mech, letting the next passerby deal with the stranger.  His consciousness wouldn’t let him.

As Seaspray got closer to the small mech, he realized it wasn’t a minibot gazing aimlessly across the Rust Seas, but a youngling.

He sat down, waiting.  His hanging legs left the soles of his peds dipped in the Rust oceans.

The silence dragged on. Before Seaspray finally spoke, introducing himself, the youngling broke the silence. “What do you want?” came the curt question.

“To offer you a ride home - that is, if you don’t have a ride coming.”

“Got a ride.” Mumbled the small, visored figure.  “Just late, that’s all.”

“Then, I shall wait with you, until he does show.”

Another joor passed.  The last rays of sunlight had long ago retreated, leaving only twinkling stars to illuminate the land.

When ttwo fuel tanks gurgled, Speasray dug into his subspace, withdrew his last cube.  “Go ahead and have some,” he offered.  “I have more at home.”

The speed at which the free fuel disappeared left Seaspray wondering when this kid last ate.   “Doesn’t look like anyone’s searching for you.”

The slight figure slumped, holding himself into a small ball.  “They’ll be here.”  He insisted.

Speaspray turned to ask more, when his silent companion slipped into the seas below.  The submersible patrol boat didn’t hesitate - he dove off the pier, grabbed the sinking youngling and haul him to shore before the dark seas could cling to him forever.  “you okay?”

The youngling expelled liquid rust form his vents.  “Yeah, fine.”  He shivered.

“No, you’re not.”  Seaspray gathered up the small figure, surprised by how light he was.  “I’m taking you to my place for the remainder of the orn - and then we will locate your family.”

There was no talking as he carried the nameless mech to his home.

“Beachcomber.”

“Pardon me?”

“My name’s Beachcomber - and nobody’s cared for me before.”

“Pleased to meet you Beachcomber.  My designation is Seaspray.”

Title: Big Brother
Characters: Skyfire
Rating: K
Series: Generation 1
Summary: When one of the Autobot Gestalts leaves, only one knows where they go, and why they leave  - Skyfire.
Prompt # 6 scenario: a character in orbit, watching.

Hovering above Earth, Skyfire slipped into the day lit side.  He opened up his armor, letting the sun’s rays bombard him.  On planet, his sensors would have interoperated the light as wonderful heat, finally melting the last of the ice surrounding his frame, limbs, and spark.  In orbit, just skimming the atmosphere, he could absorb more energy directly, supplementing the energon.

This high up, he didn’t cast a shadow.  That was fine with Skyfire.  He didn’t want others to notice his presence just yet.

Slipping deeper into the atmosphere, his optics started focusing on smaller objects not just landmasses and metal constructs larger than islands dotting the oceans.

Still in the sun-lit side, Skyfire brought himself over the empty desert the Aerialbots had claimed as their own.  Four were in the sky, practicing, while one watched from the ground.

Skyfire debated between joining the aerial antics, (showing them how it was down or dropping down completely, assisting Silverbolt in critiquing sloppy maneuvering.

In the end, the cargo transport chose to do none of the above - the desert was their sanctuary and they would not appreciate any intrusion - no matter how ell meaning his attentions.

Skyfire moved on, following the path of the sun, watching the world below turn.  There was so much to do, so much to see when he did land, he became swamped by well-meaning Autobots who failed to understand that flyers needed time in the sky to stay sane.
