simple beginnings

Title: Simple starts.
Rating: K+
Author: Rose0mary
T-Universe: Generation 1
Characters: Prowl, Sunstreaker
Prompt: Prowl/Sunstreaker - pride goeth before…
Summary: It started with a common enemy: the always-chaotic repair bays.

A Fall.

Sunstreaker suspected he knew why Prowl avoided medical bays like scraplets.  It wasn’t Ratchet’s cheery disposition either.
Mechs said Sunstreaker was vain, and perhaps he was, obsessing over his paint job and threatening to kill anyone who scratched his just-waxed finish.
What those mechs never saw when the yellow hellion clenched his fists, throwing punches at those who got too close, was Prowl’s microscopic smile.
A nod of thanks.
Sunstreaker had no problem yelling at Ratchet - or helping Prowl avoid the medic’s tender mercies while the 2IC let his mask slip privately.  Only after the mental equilibrium had been restored,  would the tactician allow himself to be ‘cornered’ and checked over.

Prompt: Prowl/Sunstreaker - pride goeth before…
Notes: I have no idea where this came from.
Shame

Having the reputation as berserkers did not endear the twins to Autobot Command.
Sideswipe was okay with being considered crazy, murderous, and short-tempered mechenoid.   Their perception of him did not change who he was, or how he reacted to situations.  (Plus, for the first dozen vorns, it meant nomech, nomech at all, thought of him as the prankster plaguing whichever of a hundred bases they’d been stationed at.
Sunstreaker, did not react well.
His outgoing brother tried cheering him up - mainly gossip or tales of events - but always, the fact they were seen as broken, simply because they grew up in Kaon, dragged him down, and he’d start reacting exactly the way others expected him to.
Mainly, breaking things and destroying sparks, because “everyone knew, twins were maulers, with no thought of right or wrong, no disguising between allies and enemies”.
Then they ended up with Prime, under Prowl’s command.
Prowl took one look at Sunstreaker and saw something no other mech had noticed.
A hurting spark that needed positive confirmation.
Good leaders knew how to compliment, how to build up, how to encourage.  Under Optimus’s gentle guidance, Prowl was learning and applying those lessons to the troops.
Sunstreaker benefited most - and the twins never needed to flee an Autobot base again.
