"Shuttle Centauri to Control, we're all green. Permission for takeoff requested."

"Control to Shuttle Centauri, you are cleared for takeoff on Runway 12. Say hi to the folks on Cybertron for us."

"Will do Control. Shuttle Centauri out."

Sideswipe closed the comm line and watched as the shuttle taxied down the runways to number 12, put on a burst of speed and was gone over the horizon. He sighed as he started the procedures to shut down his console and shift it to automatic monitoring.

"Hey Sides."

Sideswipe looked up. Jazz leaned in the doorway, arms crossed.

"Hey Jazz. The last shuttle just left and I'm almost finished shutting everything down." Sideswipe reported. Jazz might act like one of the crew but he was still and officer. Mechs that forgot that tended to find their furniture glued to the ceiling.

"So why weren't you on it?"

Sideswipe looked up again sharply. "What?"

"You heard me. Why weren't you on it?" Jazz left the doorway and approached him. "Everyone has been going on for weeks about heading back to Cybertron."

"Well, Jazz, if you haven't already noticed, I'm not everyone." Sideswipe looked up into the blue visor now leaning over him and held his gaze.

Jazz chuckled, a deep, pleasing sound that always seemed to ripple down Sideswipe's back struts. "Oh, I've noticed Sides. But seriously, didn't you want to go home? There are enough mechs staying on Earth to take care of things."

"I could ask you the same question," Sideswipe flipped the last switch that put system into standby and powered down the console. "Why are you staying?"

"It's no secret how much I like Earth. All the languages and cultures and music. I could spend a lifetime here and still not learn them all. It gets under your plating," Jazz shrugged. "It's where I want to be."

Sideswipe stood and stretched. "I like it here too but not for the same reasons." He hesitated a moment, not sure how much to say or not say. Looking into the blue visor, Sideswipe realized he didn't need to hide anymore. "Sunny and I don't have anything to go back to. On Cybertron, it's only a matter of time before someone digs up our past. On Earth, we got a fresh start. Besides, everyone we care about is staying here."

Jazz stared at him. Sideswipe couldn't help but laugh at his pole axed expression. "What, you telling me you didn't know?" he asked the Porsche Autobot.

Jazz morphed from surprised to annoyed. "Know what? I know everything about all the Autobots. No one has secrets from the ol' Jazzman." The white mech crossed his arms and huffed.

"Looks like you don't know everything about me and my brothers," Sideswipe held up his hands, warding off Jazz's sudden bad temper. "Hey, I thought you knew. Like you said, you know everything about everyone. Jazz, we have been in hiding since the start of the war. The less people who knew, the safer we stayed."

Jazz blinked, visor dimming and brightening, a couple of times before he vented and relaxed. "I don't get it Sides. I did a thorough investigation of everyone, even Prime. You wouldn't believe some of the scrap I turned up on people. I'd have thought between me and Red Alert, we'd have found out everything… wait, you said 'brothers', as in more than one."

Sideswipe grinned. "That's right. I have two brothers, both Autobots."

Jazz started to laugh. "Oh that sneaky, unhanded, slag sucking, absolutely fragging BRILLIANT pitspawn! And I thought his choice of alt mode was coincidental. That slagger! Next time I see Red Alert, I'm going to knock his block off, then shake his hand! I can't believe he played me!"

Sideswipe leaned back on the console and waited for Jazz to settle down. The Porsche bent double, alternating between laughing and gasping out something unintelligible. Probably the many ways that Red Alert fooled him over the vorn. By the time Jazz had sunk to the floor, he'd mostly calmed except for random giggles and a steady rasping pant. Sideswipe nudged him with a foot. "You gonna live?"

"I'm *gasp* fine. Hee hee!"

"Great. Let's head home, grab some fuel and I'll tell my sordid secrets." Sideswipe helped Jazz to his feet.

"Home, I like the sound of that. Home sweet home." Jazz gripped Sideswipe's arm and clapped him on the back. "Now let's go get that drink."
