There are no games in war

G1 Rumble

Rumble walks through town, listlessly kicking a stone around as he walks. As the prompt reminder flashes on his HUD yet again, he cycles air noisily.

Fine, I’m doing it! Sheesh! Primus, that’s the bossiest programming I’ve ever seen. Not like I got anything better to do…

Fun and games, huh?

I can’t remember the last time I have really played. I don’t know if I ever did.

I can’t remember ever having played a game that wasn’t about the war in some way.

Competition games to make you understand that you have to be faster, harsher, more ruthless than your opponent in order to beat him.

Tactical games to train your processor to always have two more calculations running than the Autobot you’re fighting.

Playful brawls taught you unarmed combat and the value of improvising when just fighting dirty wasn’t enough anymore.

Pranks to teach you stealth and cunning and to always distrust what is too easy or given freely.

Even the harmless squabbles within the Cassetticon team were a preparation for the struggles for dominance in the Decepticon army as a whole.

No, I don’t think I know anything about fun and games.

Games have never been about fun for me, though I did and do have fun playing.

For me, games have always been about survival.

(OOC: Open thread. He’s walking through town and talking to himself, feel free to bump into him, comm. him, laugh at him, whatever *smiles*)
