On chances

There are no second chances.

Neither in battle nor with people.

If you get an opportunity, grab it or it’ll be gone forever.

Once you’ve made a decision, live with the consequences. Hate them, complain, but live with them. Try to make the best of what you have.

Come to think of it, I really hate the word chance. It sounds like you’re given a good thing for free. That’s not how existence works. You don’t get good things for free, you must fight for them. Every opportunity for something good to happen in your life must be earned. Commonly, you lose something to win something else. Sometimes, you lose more than you gain.

Like here in the Nexus. I got the chance to meet new mechs - and femmes! - I got to know others from a completely different side and it’s a big adventure, really. But the price I paid is higher than what I got. I would have refused if I’d been given that chance. It sucks, but that’s life. Waiting for a second chance doesn’t make anything better. It’ll just keep you from making the best of the chance you have.

Yeah, that’s my view on chances.
