Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Embrace Humanity The Squee:
Seriously, I don’t know where to begin.
It’s one of these fics that caught my attention because of a crack pairing, and I truly enjoyed it, but even more than that. After the first time I read it, I was speechless.
I guess my “squee” begins with mentioning of
Escher and his drawing, which are truly awesome, and I’m in awe, even if I can’t look at them for long, because they make me feel sick. Though, I totally can understand Hook’s fascination and obsession.
That is one point why it matches the “Science” theme, another one is how the author describes Hook’s distaste for the human language, and the way human express their languages with mouth, and tongue. I love these bits in the story, which give a great inside.
The main reason I needed to rec this fic for the science theme, though, is pretty obvious the “experiment in human sexuality”, but despite it sounding so shallow, and like really great crack, it is so much more, and so very different.
It’s a new take on Transformers sexuality, and I don’t say it because it’s another way of plug’n’play, or it’s slightly different written spark smut, it is different.
It’s different than human experience sexuality, but it follows Hook and Skywarp how they develop interfacing to a whole new (human) level which is neither truly plug’n’play nor sticky, but somehow it still is and…
Argh!
You know what? I try to be coherent while recommending this fic, but I can’t.
This fic is truly epic.
I love its structure, and the authors style. I love Skywarp’s pranks which are subtle revealed, except this one, which I won’t mention, because it’s so damned hot. I love the way the author describes Transformers “aging”, and I like Skywarp’s characterisation, which is more than the mostly written thick idiocy. I love the way Skywarp and Hook interact, and this fic has the hottest Transformers’ kiss I’ve ever read.
This fic funny, and melancholic, and hot, and there are hints to a romance, but it’s so wonderfully subtle that it makes this fic just perfect.
I could read this fic over and over again, and even though there’re a few spelling mistakes, or odd paragraph breaks, I can’t help but love this fic so very much. And if you don’t know it yet, I truly recommend you to read it.
