Ok, this has got to be one of the most random thoughts I have EVER had.

Prompt: Voldemort from Harry Potter somehow ends up in the G1 transformers verse. And by sheer co-incidence, he manages to meet Megatron. And they become....INSTANT FRIENDS! And if you adopt this promt, I'd like you include this line.

Ironically, I have been contemplating the general concept of a HP/G1 cross - partly because all the crosses on FFN are movieverse, or so it seems, and I'd just like to see a G1 one.

Thing is, the thing that really get me about such a cross is the total difference in the polictical position of the Cybertronians. In G1, it does not seem like they are any sort of secret, so how would a fic work with that? The TFs are well-known, have been on the news almost all of Harry's life, but for him, they are just one more thing Vernon Dursley complains about being "unnatural" and "better that those big metal freaks are over in America and not here in a civilized country!".
But then not only does Harry find out he's a Wizard, but also encounters an Autobot, possibly injured after a fight that has happened in Britain?

Maybe Megatron and Voldemort forming an alliance could happen in such a fic - once Voldemort gets a body, he goes to find Megatron, who has woken such his loss of a body (if Voldy attacked the Ptters in '81, and the mechs on the Ark woke in '84, Voldemort missed them).

I also would love to see someone tackle the general way the Wizarding World would react to Cybertronians. A government like Britain would probably ignore them as being a "muggle" thing (they are machines after all), but what if they don't react like normal machines around magic? As in, TFs are resistant to magic and can enter magical areas without problems? Such issues would probably only be studied by the American Magical Government, so the Brits would probably ignore it until something happens in their own territory.

Wow, that's really elaborate thinking. I wasn't thinking too deeply for this one.

You know, if someone did a cracky little one shot. And Voldemort 'somehow' gets there and all.

I think I have thought about it so much because there's plenty of fics (movieverse crosses) where the TFs are as much a secret as the Wizarding World is - so I was thinking about how it would change things if that factor changed.

Then there's the simple fact that the Autobots are mostly based in America in G1, and the preponderance of opinion about the Ministry of Magic makes me think they would ignore giant robots, because 1: they're machines therefore muggle, and 2: In America, so not Britain's problem anyway.

So if TFs are not effected by magic like normal human machines, if they turned up in Britain, suddenly there's a huge problem when people realise these "muggle things" can actually come into magical areas... and then involve Harry some way.

Actually, I think the best Autobot to have stuck in Britain would be one of the Cassettes - small enough to walk into Hogwarts without issues of size. Personally I prefer Rewind, because he'd be going nuts wanting to study Wizarding History, and all the processor aches he'd get from overloading on information.

Plus he can hide in Harry's pocket as a cassette.

You know, Kenya Starflight on Fanfiction actually has four HP/G1 crossover one-shots. They mostly involve the Weasley Twins instead of Harry, but they're all rather well written and most of them are hilarious.
