Well do I have a deal for you,

When people think of broken gestalts they normally decide they must kill of a member of generally the Combaticons, Stunticons, or Protectobots. Instead of one of those how about we do a little wiki-diving, like dumpster diving, but generally cleaner.

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Hauler

The Constructicons are a broken gestalt, have been since Megatron failed to capture and reprogram all of them toward the beginning of the war. Their missing piece, RoadHauler, managed to escape and seek protection under the Autobots. This mech is the only one with the Constructicons full history and memory. This mech was there for the building of the monster that is Megatron.

More importantly Hauler is the one thing that allows the Constructicons to still have their willfulness. Although reprogrammed by the robosmasher for some reason they remain resistant to Megatron’s orders, and sometimes even defy him. Megatron knows he missed one of the Constructicons. He has to know, but he may not know where RoadHauler has disappeared to.

The Constructicon Autobot is now painted yellow, goes by Hauler, and has the same Alt-mode as Grapple and is stationed on Earth as well, pretty good cover as long as the ‘Cons don’t look too hard. Kind of a throw in to the episode where the Constructicons are slightly obsessive about working with Grapple, is it that they want to work with Grapple or is it that the mech is such a close approximation to what they are missing that they create a reason to work with Grapple to try and be near him.

If the Autobots have the opportunity to capture a Constructicon would Hauler be able to return the memories to his brother, and create havoc among one of the most powerful of the gestalts? The Constructicon wouldn’t be able to deny the validity of the other’s claims with they are as fanon normally has them linked spark deep.

In this the Constructicons have unknowingly been an incomplete gestalt for millennia and have been experiencing whatever that entails for that long. The perfectionist surgical engineer unable to locate the cause of the problem in there gestalt driven mad, the volatile chemist unable to find the right mix striving toward something he cannot figure out, the berserker with an undying rage caused and fueled by something, the master designer never pleased with his work because it’s missing something, the addled scavenger on an unending hunt for something, collecting till he finds it, and a transporter who wants something more and is willing to fight although it is not his skilled area. They all know something isn’t what it should be. They feel it deeper than consciousness.

Back with the Autobots Hauler has to struggle with the gnawing need of his gestalt, the unbalanced mind of Devastator clawing across the bond, and the guilt that possibly, if he were to die, that maybe his gestalt would perish as well, making headway in the war for the Autobots. His wiki-description mentions his tendencies to sometime go against the cover designed for him and change his coloration or modify himself. This could also be worked into the effects of being separated from his gestalt. I don’t believe his relation to Constructicons would be widespread knowledge either. It would probably be something kept by the Medical staff, and the officers.

It’s also entirely possible that there is an Eighth Constructicon as well but we won’t worry about that for now.
