So... Yeah. This came to me when looking through the Wild Mass Guessing page for Beast Wars on TVTropes. (No, I'm not linking, yes, you are welcome.) SPOILERS for the end of season one.
Okay, so at the end of the first season, Scorponok and Terrorsaur were dumped into the lava pit and that was it. However, if you look, Terrorsaur's hand is glowing, indicating that he, and presumably Scorponok as well, were being upgraded, and that they were alive, if in stasis lock.
Flash forward a few thousand years to G1, where two very strange robots have been found trapped in rock...
