This is something my boyfriend dreamed a few nights ago.

Grimlock is convinced that he'd make a better Prime than Rodimus, so he edits the security footage of Optimus's death to make it look like Optimus meant to give Him Grimlock the Matrix of Leadership and not Ultra Magnus.
