Thought I'd give a go at this music meme that's making the rounds. I'm not very good at thinking of dialog on the spur of the moment, it seems, so most of these ended up being narratives. This was harder than I'd thought it would be, especially since most of the songs were so short. Also, I don't understand why, when I have 2500 songs on my ipod, I get two by the same artist ^^; Or why my player chooses to embarrass me with my guilty love of Josh Groban. Alas.
1. Everlasting Song--Yuki Kajiura (G1)
The war was a bad thing, that was granted, but Ironhide didn’t always mind it. If he were honest with himself. It was awful seeing so much death, but he was programmed to fight, and he wasn’t so sensitive to fields as everyone else. He couldn’t feel the emotions of those he killed. He wasn’t like Ratchet, who easily felt the rising and falling moods of everyone around him. The war led him to the medic, and the medic led him to a new kind of life. Ironhide still liked to fight, but now there was something else to it. He enjoyed life, he could respect it, and he wanted more of it. He’d seen a purity in the ambulance that he didn’t have for himself, felt his own world reflected through someone else’s spark. He’d never be a pacifist, but he could respect the idea, the ghost of hope behind the end of the battle.
2. Core-Susumu Hirasawa-Paranoia Agent OST (G1)
Mirage thought a lot about Cybertron when he was on Earth. He missed his home planet, or at least, he thought he did. But everytime he returned to the broken ruins of the Towers, he was reminded that it wasn’t Cybertron itself that he missed. He missed how he felt in the old days, the peace of coming home to the life he’d made for himself. The friends he knew and could laugh with, the people who shared his tastes. He missed the tang of his evening energon, the music his old creator used to play. Seeing the burned out husk of his home, he knew it was something he’d never have again, even if there was peace…
3. Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee-Grease (G1)
“You have no excuse for not giving them a go.”
“I’m not connecting with the twins.”
“Aw, c’mon. Who hasn’t? Ya prude.”
“Hardly. I don’t need them going through my systems. I’m not that overcharged.”
“You’re looking at Sunstreaker.”
“Who doesn’t?”
4. Jouken Douji-Susumu Hirasawa-Paranoia Agent OST (G1)
The few times he was captured by the Decepticons, it was interesting. Horrifying, and he always wondered if he’d make it out alive, but it certainly made him feel better about himself. Red Alert knew his own allies didn’t like him, thought him paranoid. He wondered if they knew how much it upset him that they thought he was crazy. Watching the Decepticons, he knew it wasn’t so. The flickering optics of his captors, never resting on one thing, always on the lookout. Always waiting for the shot in the back, whispering to one another in hallways. Full of nervous tics and superfluous movement. No, Red knew he wasn’t the crazy one.
5. Thank You--Dido (Movieverse)
Bumblebee groaned to himself and tried to vibrate the training arena sand from his chassis. He’d encountered Barricade again in the morning, and though the Camaro’d won this time he’d incurred too many dents for Ironhide and Ratchet’s satisfaction. He wasn’t so damaged as to require the medbay, and thus Ironhide decided that he needed more sparring practice. It was now time to pick up Sam from school, and Bumblebee hadn’t the time to clean up or even get basic repairs. He watched as the boy bounded out the doors of the building. After waving to a few of his friends, he enthusiastically bounced into the front seat.
“Man, TGIF…I couldn’t wait to get out of there--what happened to you?” Sam asked, suddenly aghast as he took in the ripped upholstry.
Bumblebee could feel gentle hands running over the dents and scuffed paint in the driver’s side door. The boy’s worry warmed his spark.
“Nothing much. Ironhide as usual.” It was good to have a friend, after so long…
6. All Star--Smash Mouth (Movieverse)
Sideswipe figured even though everyone bitched about him, they probably couldn’t live without him. Even Sunny bitched, but that was almost his job. So what if he was a little more animated once he hit earth? So what if he didn’t care about the ridiculous speed limit, if he prodded Bluestreak into races and convinced an overcharged Wheeljack to stretch out and do a few stunts? He was an amazing, carefree driver back on Cybertron, and it was a waste to have him stuck in his lab all day mulling the most effective way to kill 'cons. The Lamborghini hated the heavy mood he encountered when he made earthfall. Jazz was gone, all anyone could think about was that their race was doomed. So Sideswipe had to remind them that they were still alive, and there was still fun to be had-whether they wanted it or not.
7. Yume no Tsubasa--Yui Makino (G1)
Thanks to the Matrix, Optimus had visions. They were few and far between, but they were always correct. So he knew that he was going to be offlined, and he knew that he would try to hand the Matrix off to Ultra Magnus. That would ultimately fail, however, and it would end up melding with the spark of Hot Rod. The Autobot Commander couldn’t help but smile behind his mask as he watched the young soldier engage in playful sparring with the twins and Bluestreak. He couldn’t think of a more unlikely candidate, but the Matrix chose who it would. Somehow the thought was comforting, to think of the young carrying on the flame. Although he could never wish the suffering of carrying the Matrix on anyone…
8. Remember When it Rained--Josh Groban (Movieverse)
Wheeljack sighed to himself and wished he were better with words. He knew Ratchet was upset, knew what losing Jazz had cost him. Every lost patient cost the medic, but Jazz was more than that. He was the ambulance’s first adopted charge, the first time the medic defied everyone’s anger and dared to repair and harbour a mech sparked by Decepticons. In fact, the first time he’d met Ratchet was after he’d lost a patient. It was raining that day, and Wheeljack had been repaired after a harsh battle. Everyone had been seen to and the screaming had long since stopped. Still, he found the medbay stifling and he’d had to get outside, even if just for a little while. He didn’t care about the abating storm, and then he saw Ratchet in the early morning, glowing in the murky light of the half-hidden sun. Wheeljack wasn’t an artist either, but he knew beauty when he saw it-such honest sadness in the rain.
9. Wicked Melody-Nobuo Uematsu-FFIX OST (G1)
Bomb Burst looked out from his cave into the black wasteland, hungrily eyeing the mechs as they passed. They looked tired, unhealthy, and miserable. It delighted him, even if they wouldn’t make the best meal. Easily preyed on. He couldn’t tell if they were Autobots or Decepticons, but the atmosphere suited him. He was a demoralizer at heart, swooping down on his victims unexpected, keeping the survivors paranoid with his cries in the night. He didn’t have to work so hard these days with the land blighted and the skies black with smoke…
10. Danzai no Hana ~Guilty Sky~--Claymore OP (G1)
Wheeljack stared down the barrel of the new missile launcher he’d created with hard optics. Even without consulting Ironhide, he knew it was a beauty. It had a range of twenty miles, could penetrate armor three meters thick, and aside from the general lethal damage of the projectile, there was acid in the casing. This baby was going to do in some Decepticons in a major way. Shaking his head, he set it on his lab table and rested a hand on the trigger thoughtfully. He was proud of himself for his accomplishment, in a twisted way. He’d made this weapon, this one and so many others, and they were all works of genius. All devices that only he could accomplish with his imagination. He loved inventing, loved the creative process and coming out with something that actually worked. Others called his enthusiasm infectious. But sometimes he wondered how he could approach these projects so happily, how he could push what they did to the back of his processor until he was standing and looking at his completed weapon of mass destruction…
I've never put any of my fanfic stuff on LJ before, so I apologize if the formatting is off. Come to think of it, this is the first time I've actually put up any of my TF-related writing...hope it doesn't suck too much -_-
