Crescendo, Chapter 1
So .... once upon a time, I was turtling along, writing 'Giants of the Earth', albeit veeeery sloooowly. And since Giants wasn't cooperating, the muses decided to kick out this little scenelet instead. To this day, I have no idea why Soundwave decided to insert himself into my head. (Though possibly these fics just *might* have something to do with it ... *^_^*) It wasn't even a whole story, just the barest beginnings of a backstory, or so I thought.
Then the ever-insightful Fractal jumped on that idea, and tempted me with an scenelet of her own, and convinced me to take the plunge into writing it with her. Thus 'Sound and Fury' was born--and now, eight months, five stories and over 200K words later, we've finally come full circle for Soundwave & co ...

Characters/Pairing: this chapter--Soundwave, Ravage, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Rumble, Frenzy, Flipsides and Ratbat.
Warnings/Notes:Soundwave-centric, this fic is the immediate sequel to 'Oratorio' in the 'Sound and Fury' series. It takes place in the same continuity as 'Giants of the Earth', but is set hundreds of thousands of years earlier, on prewar Cybertron. The character designs, for the most part, are movie-verse with the addition of G1 colors and minor modifications as needed. Warnings for a brief description of torture in this chapter.
“Soundwave: has come to a decision.” Their distress was distracting, and he did his best to stay on point, to verbalize his decision rationally and clearly. “Current status at the Kaon Arena, untenable. War, now inevitable; future resources, likely to be minimal. Our cohort, must choose with whom to ally.” He paused, marshalling his arguments carefully, as if he were defending his thesis before his fellow Archivists. “Soundwave: has decided to join the Decepticons. Advancement to officer ranks, offers best chance for our survival.”
