I've noticed a slow increase of posts where the only entry subject is an advertisement for communities, RPs, forums, or whatever. When I first created this community, I made a rule saying "Please, no advertisements without something fandom-related attached, be it fanart, fanfic, questions, or discussion prompts." This was a rule I felt was necessary at the time, as I've seen many LJ communities become nothing more than a friendslist-spamming advertising grounds.
That being said, tf2007fun has come a long way from what I originally expected. It's flourished beyond what I could have imagined, and so I have to ask: do we still want to keep this rule in place?
I personally don't see it as being too difficult to come up with something to tack on to an entry so that it's not only an advertisement, but also contributing something more to the community that's hosting this advertisement. However, I'm not sure if you all think that this is necessary, or if we should do away with the rule, or make it more generalized. Perhaps allowing "advert only" entries if the advertisements are behind cuts? I'm not sure. But I'd really appreciate any input on the matter.
So speak up, guys: Should we keep the rule regarding advertisements?
(And, for that matter, if you have any questions/comments/concerns, or other rule suggestions/clarifications/whatever, feel free to e-mail me, or leave me a message through LJ. My e-mail is devilishkurumi (at) yahoo (dot) com.)
