so, while reading through an old issue of men's health i came across a really shitty article that just has blown things to shit for me right now,it was called short-man syndrome
heres a few excerpts from my educational reading:
SHORT. its a five letter word that carries four-letter connotations for men below the average of 5'9".Unless your one of them, you dont know how much it hurts to be called that.
"from a very early age you start getting clear institutionalized messages that you're less desirable, from the violence you experience in school to the behavior you encounter through your social and professional life, the discrimination is always there."
compared with shorter men, guys of average and above average height are seen as "more mature, uninhibited, positive, secure, masculine, active, complete, succesful, optimistic, dominant, capable, confident, and outgoing."
While all of this pisses off short guys, what really bothers them is how they're viewed by women.
Why are women so particular? Certainly a portion of it stems from the statistics cited earlier [i didnt put them in but trust me... they basically said i suck at life] that taller men earn more and enjoy a higher social status. Some of it also comes from Hollywood, where leading ladies routinely look up into the eyes of the tall, dark, and handsome man. It's the romantic ideal. But a good chunk is based on an almost primitive assesment. Is he a good provider, a worthy protector, a gifted procreator? And on some anthropological level, it's as if she ultimately decides the short man is not. Less than one-half of 1% of women marry men who are shorter than they are.
someone once asked sigmund freud "What is the goal of life?" and his answer was "to love and to work"thats a fairly good summary of whats bothering these guys. They're looking to love and to be loved, to work and be valued. It's just that their stature, something totally beyond their control, is keeping them from it.
thats my highlights worth typing
hmmm limb lengthening cost $70,000 and only gives ya like 3 inches. I guess lifes just gonna suck for me from here on out. My stature doesn't really bother me usually. I've kinda grown accustomed to it and even started tellin myself I liked it. I guess I was wrong. well anywho I guess I should just enjoy my happy times for all they are worth. at least i have an amazing group of friends... its kinda hard to be optimistic about somethin like this... but you know me... i do what i can. I think chris carabbas is pretty short. maybe thats an addition to why he is so god damn emo lol
-cheers-
