I find whenever I draw I enter a world where I am no longer a socialite but an introverted individual that likes to observe... I'll be waiting on someone and I'll whip out my sketchbook and I'll just start sketching people I see... and before I even realize it the person I was waiting on has been sitting next to me for a good five minutes...

I've been trying out my tablet... I don't like it that much, I prefer traditional media, but the times they are a changin'

Over the past year or so I've sort of engaged in an epistolary relationship via the internet with one of my all time favourite artists, Paul Pope, you can visit his site (never updated) to look at some of his work http://paulpope.com/

Anyways, this is the last thing he sent me, and every time I get something back from him, he's a great guy, and he really picks me up whenever I'm doubting myself as an artist, this really made my day!

Dave--you're a smart and thoughtful guy, there is no hole in your education so far-- I know what I know from years of on the job exp., and when you hit 36 you'll undoubtedly be telling younger artists something similar appropriate to your times... I do feel a need to make some analogue noise I guess, so we share some of that. But there are so many things to learn, you know? All tools for us to use.

JJ is the one halftone exception--I almost mentioned it in that little piece, ha!

Thanks though-- PULPHOPE in 3 months or so! Phew!

I guess it doesn't make sense without the original letter I sent him, but it's nice all the same I think.

-Cheers-
Dave

PS pick up a pencil or something and try and draw something, we all did it when we were little kids!
