Vegas Strip [Wednesday night]

It was their last evening in Vegas, so Eric had insisted on dinner (for Jaina) and a show (NOT Celine Dion) for him. Now they were walking through the crowds and waiting for the pirate show at Treasure Island to begin. Eric stopped short and glared at an Elvis impersonator in a sequined white jumpsuit.

Jaina followed his gaze to the jumpsuit- and to the impersonator. There were some pop culture references and icons that still escaped her, but this one she definitely knew. "Big fan or something?" she guessed.

"Something like that," Eric said. "You know how people keep thinking he's still around?"

"I've heard about that, yeah," she said, thinking. "I think I saw a tabloid cover or something once."

"At least in my world, he's not exactly...gone," Eric said carefully.

She paused, then gave him a suspicious look. "You're not saying what I think you're saying, are you?"

"Goes by Bubba now and has a thing for cats," Eric replied.

Wow. "That explains why he's never any older in the sightings," Jaina mused. "Cats? Really?"

She was so not going to mention what she turned into when Fandom thought it was funny.

"He's kind of...wrong," Eric said, looking vaguely embarrassed. "We shift him around the South to keep him out of sight."

"At least if he's got a thing for cats he's less likely to be sighted by people?" she tried. "That's such a weird sentence for me to say for so many reasons."

Eric snickered. "I can't imagine why," he teased.

"This is what knowing you has done to me," she joked. "Happy?"

"Extremely so," he said. "Ooh, the show with the historically inaccurate but very scantily dressed pirates is about to start! It's so very tacky. I love it."

Jaina shook her head as she looked toward the show. "Do you know it's historically inaccurate because you've met some of the real ones?" she asked. "...Aside from the one that works for you in Fandom."

"Aside from him, yes, I've met some other pirates," Eric said with a quick smile. "I get bored if I stay in place for too long."

"That doesn't surprise me," Jaina said. "I get twitchy staying in one place for more than a month or two. I can't imagine you'd stick to one are for a century or so or anything."

"Especially now that it doesn't take so long to get places," Eric said.
