Hi, I'm new here but I've been interested in ABe's work ever since "Haibane Renmei" and in 2004, I got into "Texhnolyze" by buying and viewing only the first DVD. Four years later on this day (that took a long time), I finally got myself the complete Collector's Box off of E-Bay and I'm eager to start watching it soon. However, because I heard so ( Read more... )

Well, I just finished watching it in two nights. Goddamn. Wow. Just...wow. What all of them go through as things go to hell in a handbasket is so saddening. Pity that Lacan went down like that and Onishii... ;_; That guy had to be one of the most human, if not one of the most honorable characters in the entire series. I almost feel like his life later paralleled Ichise's - he also lost everything that he had. His wife, his organization turned on him, his secretary, and in the end, his life and body (that was sickeningly brutal). All because he wasn't willing to satiate the collective human appetite for murder, mayhem, and blood.

No wonder Ichise went apeshit on those men.

I really enjoyed from Episode 12 onwards, because once Ichise got involved in Organ and opened up, the politics and character drama just got phenomenal. Episode 13 got me teary-eyed when he reached out for Ran (I love that connection that forms in Ichise's mind then and there). And after seeing all of that, the ending still hits hard. (I actually believe it got even more profound). I think this anime just shot up to #1 on my list. I'm recommending it to friends, because I think it must be seen. (Need to get my brother to watch it, too).

Just one question and it namely has to do with the subject of eye color. Since Doc mentioned that Ichise's eye color was like her ancestors, did that mean that Ichise used to be Class or that he's related to Doc, which would make the 'second mother' comment even more true? According to the light engineer, the people's eye color changed when all of the lights went out but apparently, Ichise retained his true color. Why? What is the connection that I'm missing?

But yeah... *shivers* I think I'll revisit the series after a month or two to refresh my brain. I know I'm changing my desktop wallpaper - I'm going to screencap the hologram flower with the city in the background that's in the ending. That image is just so poignant, but it won't spoil anything if I show it to friends.
