I'm happily exhausted. We were going to go to Ron Jon's at Cocoa Beach because I wanted new flip-flops. Ron Jon's has the best, and here? You can even wear really good ones to work on casual days - with dresses! So. I needed to go there since I've looked elsewhere to no avail. Love me some Ron Jon's ...
Jeff, the girls and I headed for Cocoa Beach. We were going to go get ourselves wet in the ocean after shopping, and I was going to run on the beach. But I forgot that today was the shuttle launch! We couldn't even get out of Orlando to get to the beach. So we rethunk it and went to Gatorland with those girls. It was so much fun!
I have not been there in decades, because I am so afraid of alligators. I have recurrent dreams about not just gators, but gators and Gatorland. (The place made a real impression on me as a younger person - espececially a younger person with young children. I can't imagine how many dream hours I've spent trying to rescue children and dogs from the gators at Gatorland, hopping across their broad backs as I hear snapping jaws all 'round me.)
I'm just not scared of the place anymore, and it was great. Oh, it's grotesque, no doubt about it. Hundreds of prehistoric monsters jumping out of the murky water to grab hunks of raw chicken into their maws is disturbing. But it's awesome! It's not just the alligators - the place is a gorgeous natural attttttraction, as well, with long leisurely walks in the swampy lands and a spectacular new observation deck high in the sky. (That waves a little in the breeze, and I was freaked, but anyhoo...)
We walked and were out in the marvelous sun all day, and now I am achy and tired. The girls and Jeff had a good time, too. I'll have to take the grandboys next, but I'll be that will be a different type day all together.
