Here is the scenario.
You work for or attend a university which has a large foreign population, many of them from India, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan.
Most of your maintenance crew is uniformed. Light blue, long sleeved button down shirt, jeans, with a name patch on the shirt. Some of the maintenance crew is not uniformed, and they always wear the little clip on badges that show face and name and specialty shop. The shop men always carry very exact orders, and always present with, "I'm (name) from (the shop in the plant operations they represent), and I need to (whatever they are there to repair or examine). Can you let me into (room where that particular control board is.)"
A young person, possibly a grad student, but too old for the average undergrad student, walks into the office. They have a dark skin tone common to India or perhaps some of the middle eastern countries. They have an accent, but it is not typical of India or Turkey or any other nation in the sense that when they speak you can instantly determine where they learned to speak english.
They are wearing a nice polo-esque t-shirt, with broad horizontal stripes, and they are carrying a small black box that you often see wrenches or electrical readers in. They present and say, "I am from plant operations, can you show me your mechanical rooms."
When you ask them to be more specific in regards to communications, electronics, plumping, etc., they say, "All your mechanical rooms."
So you rephrase your question. "What are you here to do, so I will know what room you need access to."
They respond, "I need readings."
You then ask, "Electrical? Plumping? Connectivity?"
They reply, "Air handlers."
