One other commercial that I blocked out entirely.

I have since discovered that this was only aired in Texas, so most of ya'll probably didn't see it.

Recall that the Superbowl is purportedly a family event. My family, in point of fact, was watching together.*

So the above ad comes on somewhere in the middle of the third quarter. And we're like what the fuck is "Ashley Madison.com"? And having a computer in the room, we look it up.

The company motto: LIFE IS SHORT. HAVE AN AFFAIR.™

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, a dating website for married people. And I got the distinct impression that the married people in question didn't get permission from or even notify their spouses that they are looking for fun outside the marriage. We were speechless.

And apparently we weren't the only ones. The NFL actually banned print version of the ad in the official NFL program, but those of us in Texas (a supposedly red state full of family values) were subjected to it.

Apparently a lot of their clients are in Texas and the company wants to grow its business here.

*I admit that we're not exactly the sort of family that comes to mind when people use the word "family event." But still!

absurd, women's issues, television
