So there's a 25 foot length of sewer pipe that I got to see up close and personal today. The guy with the camera showed up, and for a mere $300, he showed me the inside of my pipes

Well crud. I'm sorry to hear that, drains seem to fail eventually. So far we've been pretty fortunate at Boo Manor; the only sewer problem turned out to be the county's problem.

It helps to have a good 10k sized fund for "weird stuff" when you own a house.
