and the weekend...

As ya'll can probably guess, the last few days have been mainly dedicated to Chicken and Liv. They left last night for the wilds of San Francisco, and we'll see each other again at some point for our Annual Hiking Trip. This year's will be a little more corgi friendly than the past few. I may have shed a tear or two before they left. I feel though that Chicken has been properly socialized with the pulik and when they next see each other, there will be joy all around (especially from Relampago and Zapata).

There were some other features to this exhausting weekend. Medea worked brilliantly at the Diverseworks gala, though I was pretty damned tired the next day. A full day of puppy playing, plus a night that didn't end until 4:30 in the morning, plus a wake up call* around 9:00 the next morning led to a pretty tired 'stina on Saturday. Fortunately, Chicken was willing to nap with me while her mama went off to go thrift store hunting with our dad.

The tamale party was a success of sorts. It lasted six hours long, and Chicken got to meet a gagillion relatives. She got along best with my cousin's son, Brandon. But she had a pretty good time with everyone. She and my cousin's 22 month old daughter, Rebecca vied for the most attention, though Rebecca's cheeks were pinched more often. The tamales themselves were slightly underdone due to our having blown a fuse in the garage where they were cooking. For us, that is a perfectly understandable occurance, and it simply met we drank more and had a little bit more time to catch up with one another.

We made it to the MFAH around 10:30, and it was pretty packed. We danced and chatted with a few people, but at around midnight, Liv and I decided we were tired and walked back to my parents' house. I was in bed by 12:10.

Yesterday was slothful. We hung out on the patio all day and played with the puppies. Chicken and Liv left for the airport about the same time that the Oscar telecast started up, and I made it home last night around midnight.

I'm tired.

And I miss my sister.

*I would have ignored it, but my car was abandoned at some point during the previous evening's debauchary, so I was left to the mercy of he who could get me back to my car.
