Art car musings

Yesterday was our first day in the warehouse to build the art car. Since we don't have a chassis yet, we focused on getting to know our new space, building our own locker for our crap (so we don't have to haul it in and out of the warehouse every time we go there), and moving and taking apart some benches that we're going to reassemble later.

I'll say, there's something sort of primal about hanging out in a warehouse space around power tools and plywood and hammers with a bunch of your friends and wondering where the martini glasses are going to go on the art car's chandelier. There's something very elemental about guiding your friend as she backs up a trailer to pick up some poles that will later be draped in pearls and rich flowy fabrics. There's something damned fun about arguing about how much foam needs to go under our butts when we lounge in our art car once it's done.

I'm ordering a neon martini glass to have on site while we build this thing to remind us of what the goal is.
