Force and Dolly

So the Star Wars episodes IV-VI DVDs are coming out in September. I'm unclear as to whether or not they're the original release or the special edition that came out in 1997. I have both versions on VHS and I went to see the special editions in the theaters when they were rereleased. I'm a purist, so I'm inclined to see Han shoot Greedo first, though it is nice to have the special effects cleaned up a little and sharpened. Being George Lucas's bitch, I'll buy whatever version comes out in September, but it'd be nice to have the version that I spent my childhood watching.

My lawyer board is in a heated battle over which version of "I Will Always Love You" is better. I'm a Dolly Parton fan, and I've always thought that her version is more personal, though I acknowledge that Whitney Houston's was probably more technically perfect.

The concert last night was excellent. Mozart and Beethoven string quartets, and I can still hear the Beethoven in my head.

Afterwards, my parents and Jose and I went out to dinner at a local restaurant, and we chatted a bit about upcoming plans. Jose cashed in miles and is heading down to Argentina and Brazil for two and a half weeks later on next month. He is staying with friends in Buenos Aires, and he'll be sort of travelling around in Brasilia and Sao Paolo and Rio by himself for the last part of his trip. He's been brushing up on his Spanish a lot lately. My dad recruited me to do a "this is what you need to do when you go off to start your practices" series of lectures for his residents and medical students. There are so many things that the medical schools do not teach about employment contracts, anti-referral laws, the business of practice, that the residents are begging for a lecture series on this stuff. I promised that I'd do it after the Art Car stuff.
