Emerson String Quartet

I went to a chamber music concert last night, and it was unbelievable. At times, the music was so beautiful that tears literally sprang to my eyes and I got goosebumps. It was technically perfect, but it was more than that. These guys were amazing.

The started with Beethoven (Op. 18, No.1) string quartet, and then played a more modern piece by Aitken, and they ended the first half of the concert with Barber's Adagio. I cannot emphasize how much this piece of music moved me. It's one of the most romantic pieces of music that I can think of, and just the first three notes cause me to break out in goosebumps. By the time they got to the end of the piece, tears were steaming down my face. Intermission followed in order for everyone to catch their breath. The second half of the concert was Shubert's Death and the Maiden. Beautiful piece, beautifully played, and at times moved me to goosebumps.
