Home again

Tuesday, we slept until we woke up. And that was awesome. I took Liv back over to Snow City Cafe for breakfast, and then we wandered some more stopping at a few galleries and crafty places. I bought myself a puffin tee shirt, hand screened by a local artist, at one of these shops. I adore it. I looked again at the musk oxen knitcraft, but I decided it was a little too pricey for me right now.

We talked about renting bikes, but instead, we explored the idea of salmon fishing, walking down to where we saw people fishing from the top of the Hilton two nights before. We opted out of fishing for fear of falling into the mucky river, but we did end up getting some ulus and other gifts for people at home at a nearby ulu factory. Ulus are rounded knives similar to those used by native Alaskans; Graham uses his for chopping basil and reports it's quite good for its task.

The rest of Tuesday, we spent at a bar chatting and being sisters. I had phenomenal fish and chips and Liv had steamer clams with jalapeno. We drank many varieties of beer and talked for a few hours, until it was time to go back to the hotel and pack. My flight was at midnight that night, and Liv's was six hours later.

I ended up in Seattle, hoping to get bumped, but there were just enough seats for everyone to Houston. Not as comfortable as first class, but I made it home without incident.

It was a lovely trip, and Liv is coming to Houston next week for two whole weeks!
