The day of happiness

May 06, 2011 23:33

Today, I went to work and stayed for nearly the entire day.

I got there around 10:30 and left at 5:00, which is a long time for me. I did get some work done, and I also got some stuff done regarding the wreck. I went ahead and reserved a rental car. The suburban has been great, but it's gas mileage isn't all that wonderful, so I figured that since the insurance company is picking up the rental, it'll save a little money in gas.

I also got the general gyst of how our medical expenses are going to be paid when I talked to the medical adjuster. I'm really hoping that we get the insurance information of the other driver soon, so we can make the claim with his insurance too. But I'm not that worried that things won't be taken care of by my insurance company if for some reason things don't pan out with him.

Graham sent me a cute e-mail, some link or another he thought was funny, and I responded with a "Yay!" He said that I haven't said "yay!" since the accident, and that was bothering him. I generally say "Yay!" a lot.

I was really tired when I got home, but I was more excited than anything else. I had bought tickets to Wilco when they first came out in February, and today was the concert. I'd almost forgotten about it, given the other events of the week, but Graham didn't. He's not as big of a Wilco fan as I am, but he felt it was critical that I make it to the show. And it was. It was my eigth Wilco show, my second with Graham, and it was clear from the first chord that I was going to be happy for nearly two hours. I was dancing and singing and swaying, and I was even accused of air guitaring. I had to explain to my accuser that my left arm isn't quite up to moving up and down very well, so it's only my right that's moving up and down.

I forgot about the accident for a little while. It was wonderful.

We left a little early, well into "Kidsmoke" in the encore. We were both getting tired, and we didn't want to get jostled too much in the mad rush to leave. We'd stood the entire concert, and I'd been moving around a lot, probably moving my arm and neck less carefully than I should have. I'll probably sleep very well tonight, and I took a Vicodin as soon as I got home. And Celosa got a tummy rub.

The concert is still playing in my head, and I'm overjoyed I got to see it. I hope that Graham's favorite band comes to town sooner or later, so he can enjoy that same sort of happiness. I'm just really glad he was there with me. I'm glad that he'll always be there with me.

holy shit, graham, ooh shiny!, 'stina, music
