Newer is not always better.
Since I have been having babies there was a particular car seat and stroller that I wanted. It was a Graco - Spree Travel System with Snugride. The pattern has changed over the years but I really fell in love with This pattern and it is called Winnie the Pooh Days of Hunny '07 Here is a picture of it. I liked it because it had three cup holders and it was green and every review I ever read about it was good.
Trouble was they wanted $149.97, I did not have $149.97 and so all I could do was drool over it every single time I went in the store. When I found out I was pregnant I added it to my gift registry and hoped for the best. I did notice something was amiss though when I went to the Wal-Mart site to check my registry. I could no longer click on the stroller and it went from being online to in stores only. I also knew something was wrong when three weeks ago my mother in law got a print-out and it had the stroller at $80.00 and the print out had out of stock on it. I told her no, that could not be right, and quickly (accidently) forget about it because I did not have the money anyway.
On Monday, I went to Sherman and they had the stroller there and I had to drool over it some more but I noticed that it went up to $156.97and the original price is suppose to be $169.97. I look at the available boxes and I see that the design had changed on the box. A different pattern and indeed a darker green. The new pattern was named Days of Hunny '08, I did not like it. It had tan on the stroller legs and the pattern was tan instead of green and I really liked the green pattern.
My husband gave me some money this morning and asked me if I had enough to go get my stroller and car seat and I told him that with his contribution I should have enough with some left over. I have been saving every penny I could and I managed to save just over $100. He contributed $100 and I was thrilled. I quickly ran to Wal-mart in McKinney and got sad in the same pants that I got happy in. Come to find out, They had a huge closeout of the stroller/carseat I wanted and sold out about three weeks ago. Bet you cannot guess the price, $80.00 was all they were asking for it. I was in a word SAD! Talk about a day late and a dollar short.
I called my Mother in Law and told her what had happened and we were both sad together. I called Bonham and Sherman while I was in the store and asked if they had the displays that I could buy and both stores did not have them anymore. I come home and look up the UPC number and call the Mckinney store back and they said that 4 stores showed that they had the indvidual model.
I call the three stores and all of the stores said that they did not have the strollers anymore. I call the last store which is about a hour away and I talk to the department head there. She said that she would look for me. She located 4 strollers priced at $80.00 each. I almost jumped for joy but I do not move that easy anymore. I call my Mother in law and tell her what I have found and we make arrangements to go tomorrow after my Dr's appointment. I call and verify that the stroller was ALL GREEN and that it was both for $80.00 and I was told yes again. I give them the UPC for the one I want and she acknowledges affirmative again. Excitement took over.
I have to say though that I am not the best driver when it comes to traffic though and neither is my Mother in Law. My Mother in law called me back and asked me about my friend
ladysaidy and I told her that I was emailing her with my frustration over the matter. Then I thought of my neighbor that told me if I ever needed ANYTHING to call her, So I did. She agreed that I tracked down a good deal and drove me and the kiddos to Hickory Creek, Texas which is 50 miles from my house. We took my car and had a great road trip.
I am now the proud owner of the carseat/stroller that I wanted for all this time. I am SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!
I love it when a plan comes together.
