Best 24 hours ever? That's easy. July 7-8, 2004.
I surprised Karr by bidding on the land up in the mountains that we'd be looking at. (Surprised myself by actually getting it). After he went to work, I took a champagne picnic up to the plot ... our plot of land ... packed in plenty of dry ice so it would still be good when we could go up later that evening.
He didn't even really remember that I'd been serious about buying it, so he was pretty blown away I told him. We spent hours up there. After a while we started talking about the future, about the sort of house we'd want ... about spending the rest of our lives together. And... part of me thought it was just idle dreaming, part of me hoped he was serious.
The next day, he surprised me. He asked me to marry him. It probably sounds silly, but part of me was actually surprised despite our conversation the night before. I mean, it was such a big step for him. He'd come so far to get to that point.
I said yes, of course.
Oh! And then we called Rusti and Beast and made them flip out, well, Rusti at least. She dropped the phone. And then we went out for ice cream.
And really, how could any 24 hours be better? Love. Family. And chocolate fudge ripple.
