Do I want to live forever? No.
The gouald rely on this machine, a sarcophagus, to heal and renew them, giving them extended -- possibly eternal -- life. You'd think, being a nurse, I would love to get my hands on one of these for its healing properties.
But I don't. In fact, they make me nauseous when I see them.
Why?
Because every time the gouald use a sarcophagus, it steals a little bit of their souls away. They become even less human than they already are. The Tok'ra refuse to use the machines because of this very fact.
It seems to me that prolonging one's life through external means is a dangerous game to play. It's cheating.
