She woke up in the middle of the night, needing to, as her father had always put it, piss like a racehorse. She eased herself out of Sheldon's embrace and went looking for his bathroom. She did her business, then poked around for a minute. There was nothing wrong with being a little nosy in your new man's home. She sniffed at his bottles of cologne ( Read more... )

Sheldon's eyes snapped open and sat up in the bed. He looked to see if Sandra was still laying next to him, which turned out not to be the case. "Fuck." He quickly grabbed his robe and threw it on as he half ran out of his bedroom to find Sandra in his den and huddled down.

"Hey," he was down on the floor with her and put his arms around his lover in comfort, "tell me what happened?"

She shoved the gun at him, unable to drop it. "Take it," she whimpered. "Away from me." Her shoulders shook with sobs.

The first thing he did was make sure that the safety was on and much to relief, it was. "Okay, okay. It's put away." He slid the magazine out and slipped the gun and magazine into his robe pockets.

He sighed in frustration now that there was something that needed to be aired out. Approaching the matter was now inevitable. "What's going on?" He moved to pick Sandra up and move her to the couch. "Talk to me, baby. Tell me what's happening."

She clung to him. "Metal. So cold. Right here." She tapped her head where Noah had pressed the gun. She wasn't entirely sane as she spoke.

He took her hand and furrowed his brow as he listened and watched her movements and her eyes. Something was definitely wrong. "Who put it there?" His voice was soft, consoling but at the same time, it held the precision of the trained professional he was honed to be.

"Noah," she whispered, eyes wide. "Crazy, he was crazy. Thought I was Sylar. Disguised as me." She laughed wildly. "Shapeshifted into me."

Sheldon's throat tightened and gulped. The realization that her own husband couldn't tell his wife from an impostor really caused him to want to slap the sorry son of a bitch in the first place. His eyes softened and held her close. "It's okay. You're not there any more. I'm not that person and you're not crazy."

I reality, Sheldon wanted to beat some sense into Noah for even considering that his wife wasn't who she said she was.

"He's been obsessed with Sylar since he tried to kill our Claire," she whispered, not even noticing that she was talking. She was locked within her own mind. "But Claire can't die. Never ever ever..."

Sheldon's eyes widened. He wasn't about to dismiss the possibility that what she was saying is true or not until he gathered the facts. He's heard weird stories before. "Sandra." His voice was soft but his eyes were focused. She was slipping into a madness that he couldn't understand. He cupped her face with his hands to look her in the eyes. "Where are you?"

She snapped back into reality, staring at him with wide eyes. Her hand rose by itself to cover her mouth. "Lord, what've I been sayin'?" She tried to force herself to laugh.

"Nothing that a trauma victim wouldn't say. You freaked out over my little gun." He's not about to mention the other guns which are safely locked away and out of sight in the safes under his bed.

"I've held guns. Shot 'em. I shouldn't.... shouldn't do this." She pressed her face to his shoulder. "Sheldon?"

Sheldon's face looked to Sandra. "I'm here." His hand rubbed her shoulders, "What's on your mind?"

"Couldja... please forget anythin' I mighta said about... about Claire?" She bit her lip. She couldn't believe how stupid she'd been. But she was so comfortable with him, it was hard to remember that he didn't know.

As much as he wanted to dig further to find the truth, the fact remained that this wasn't his secret and he wasn't a part of that life. He was an outsider and most likely will remain that way for a long while still. It hurt him but they still barely knew each other. He nodded his head, resigning to the fact that he'll have to wait and pursed his lips slightly. "Okay. I get it."

He stood up slowly and ran his fingers through his hair. This was the second time she pushed him out like this and he was doing his best to be patient. He moved toward the kitchen to grab a beer, twisting the lid off and tossing the lid into recycle bin.
