Space Elevator competition news
Brian Turner, leader of the Kansas City Space Pirates, is going to be on Late Night with Conan O'Brian Friday night, talking about the space elevator competition :)

They're good folks. Back in 2006 they helped me assemble the solar panel for Starclimber, and I helped aim solar mirrors for them on their practice runs. This year they're using the Trumpf laser, the same one we are. I'm hoping to get a hint at their design :)
