Three is a Crowd
Rating: pg
Pairing: YooHyuk, YooSu, HyukSu
Genre: Angst~
Notes: For some reason, I started writing this in second person. XD;; So I figured I’d just go with it. Idek. XDD;; This is loosely based on a true story. But it seems so much better with asian boys. I love asian boys btw! Eek. (I'm sure everyone has guessed this by now? XD;;;;;;)

You were happy. You'd accomplished so much already in the short time you'd been on this earth, by becoming a star. No one thought you’d be able to do it, not really, but you did. And now you were branching out, out of Korea, reaching out to touch the rest of the world with your talent.

And you were lucky enough to have two best friends that shared your dream, one that you'd known since childhood, who you so desperately wished could stand beside you, (but he was getting to accomplish his dream too, and he wasn‘t more than a phone call away) and one that you hadn't known as long, but that you got to be with practically every moment of every day.

And then you got to finally, officially introduce them, and practically sat on them and forced them to be friends. Of course Hyukjae and Yoochun had met before, and of course, you'd told them each so much about the other. But for some reason they resisted, and you found yourself having to talk them into hanging out together.

"He's really great, once you get to know him," You promised one, and "He's just shy, don't worry, he'll come around," was what you said to the other.

Because at first, they didn't really seem to get along, and it hurt you. You knew how great each of them were, and you wanted nothing more than for the two of them to see it too. But how could you have known that your two best friends would be so drawn to each other, once they got past their differences.

Finally, Hyukjae saw how much fun Yoochun was, and Yoochun saw how much fun Hyukjae was. It was so much fun for you, all the time. Instead of having to split your time between two best friends, the three of you could be together nonstop. (Schedules permitting, of course.) You shared your good days, your bad days, and looking back, it was the most special, and definitely the most fun time in your life.

But good things never seem to last.

And gradually, Hyukjae and Yoochun started getting too busy, and neither seemed to have time for you anymore. And you wanted to be understanding, you knew how many responsibilities you all had. But then the excuses stopped making sense, and it was clear that they were avoiding you so that they'd have more time for each other.

"Hey, do you want to hang out later?" You asked Hyukjae, shifting the phone to your other ear. You'd just had a conversation, more like an arguement, about soccer. Hyukjae hadn't seemed as interested as he normally would have been, but you shrugged it off, assuming that he was tired.

"Sorry, Junsu," he responded, "I'm pretty busy this weekend, with SuJu's schedule."

And you told him you understood, which you did, and in your own way that you missed him, before hanging up.

Then you wandered around the house before settling down on the couch beside Changmin. It only took seventeen minutes to convince Changmin that he’d been studying for way too long and that video games would be relaxing. You ignored the sympathetic look on his face when you said that you were lonely, and you wanted attention. And the two of you played video games late into the night. Kicking Changmin's ass at video games always seemed to cheer you up a little.

Finally, the door opened, and Yoochun walked in.

“Where were you?” You asked, looking over the couch curiously at him. He was dressed up, in a dark suit, and you couldn’t help but notice that you couldn't resist checking him out, just a little bit.

“Out with Hyukjae. It was so fun, we…”

You found yourself tuning out what he was saying. Out with Hyukjae? Again? Why didn’t they invite you? And why did Hyukjae lie? Why did this keep happening?

When had they abandoned you?

"What does Hyukjae have that's so great?" you hear yourself saying, "Why is he so much better than me? When did I stop being important to you?"

Changmin's eyes widened, and he quietly excused himself before bolting to his room. You barely noticed, as you stood up and walked over to Yoochun.

"Su, listen to yourself!" Yoochun exclaimed, "You're not making any sense. Why are you so jealous? I can have other friends, you know."

"But that's not-"

“I really like Hyukjae, why aren‘t you happy for me?”

“Why do you two keep saying that you’re too busy working to spend time with me and then go spend time with each other?” You don’t like how upset you sound, and you definitely don’t like the tears that are suddenly threatening to fall down your face.

“Stop it, Junsu,” he responded, “You‘re being paranoid.”

Yoochun's words were like a slap to your face.

You knew you weren't.

DBSK was being sent back to Japan for a while, and you were looking forward to it, and hoping that you’d be able to get away from at least some of what was hurting you so badly. The last few days in Korea, Yoochun was completely MIA. And you knew where he was, even though you didn’t want to think about it. And you sat there, staring at your phone, remembering last year, when Hyukjae had insisted on spending every spare second you two could scrape together with you before you left.

Your phone didn’t ring once.

***

You sat on the plane, staring out the window. Changmin was next to you with an eyemask on, trying to grab any spare second of sleep that he could. Yunho was behind you, chatting quietly with the manager. And Yoochun and Jaejoong were in the seats in front of you.

“I'm back to being alone,” you overhear Yoochun saying to Jaejoong, and it’s obvious that he’s close to tears.

“You don't have to be, Yoochun,” you whisper to yourself, but it’s over. There isn’t any hope left anymore.
