Again, just to say that the following fic is not real, however, please enjoy all the same.

Summary: Gary has decided to take the boys on a camping trip for the weekend. After Mark trying to pack everything plus the kitchen sink, they set off…

Chapter2 -

It was the typical family scene - Gary as the dad, Howard being the mum, Jason the older brother and Mark, the little one.

“Are we there yet?” moaned Mark

“Please tell me you’re taking the piss, please, Mark.” Said Jason in despair

“No, I’m not. I am hungry, I want to pee and I have a cramp in my legs. Are we there yet?”

“Will you shut up with that and give over! Your thirty nine, not ten!” snapped Jason

“Come on Jay; quieten down a bit. There was no need for that.” Soothed Howard; turning around to face the two men in the back before returning to the front to consult the map. However, Mark and Jason continued to quarrel.

“Don’t pull that face at me!” ordered Jason

“What face?” enquired Mark with a false innocence “oh, you mean, this one.” He said and then pulled his face at Jason again.

“Piss off, Mark!”

“No you!”

“When will you grow up?”

“You better not be referring to my height, are you?” warned Mark

“What the - ? No! I never mentioned your height, you cretin!”

“You were insinuating it!”

“Was not.”

“Were too”

“Was not! - ”

“Shut up! Both of you!” bellowed Gary from the front

“He started it.” Whined Jason

“I don’t care who started it because I’ll finish it. Ok?” threatened Gary from the front seat.

“Tell you what.” Said Howard breaking the silence “There are some sweets here.” He said as he opened the glove box.

“Piss off, Howard. We’re not kids.”

“Fair enough.” Said Howard

“I’ll have them.” Said Mark

“For crying out loud Mark!” cried Jason.

“What the fuck have I done wrong now?” he shouted

Next thing they knew, Gary had slammed on the breaks and stopped in the middle of the road.

“Please, would you all just shut up? I can’t hear myself think!”

“No need” said Howard “just turn Left down this road for, I dunno , say... an hour or so and we should end up in the “middle of nowhere” as you put it.”

“That’s good news.” Gary said dryly “But you two” he said turning around and pointing his finger at Jason and Mark “Don’t even breathe.”

After a tedious journey with Mark and Jason in the back bickering like infants, Gary reached the spot where he thought would be perfect for them. He left the car amongst some trees and the four walked through the woods and found a secluded area where they decided to pitch up. It was gone three o’clock and by this time everyone had chance to cool down.

“Ah, listen to that!” said Gary “silence. Anyhow, we can do that stuff later because now, my friends, we have the delightful challenge of putting up our tents.” He said with sarcastic hint in his words. “If we imagine that the fire is going here” he said as he mimed out where everything would be “I think if we had the tents coming round in a semi circle it would make it cosier.”

“Cool. Ok, you’re on.” Said Howard and Jason, whilst Mark kept quiet

I will let your imagination fill in the complete pickle that the four had managed to get themselves in when trying to construct their tents. Gary had finished first, followed by Jason, they then gave Howard a hand and as for Mark... well... his tent still looked like a couple of metal poles and canvas on the ground.

“Fuck it! I can’t do this!” he said in a huff.

“Hey, don’t beat yourself up, Markie. I’ll do yours; you go and find some fire wood or help Jason and Howard setting up camp. Obediently, Mark did as he was told.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was about six, when they boys had constructed their tents and got the camp fire going. Gary stood back and admired their handy work.

“Not bad lads. Not bad. Grand job is that.”

After a few minutes of trying to get the camp fire going, the boys were able to sit around it and start to make tea.

“Two rounds of toast each” said Gary, already half way through roasting his with a huge boyish grin on his face “I never did anything like this as a kid, I wish I had done.”

“Me too” agreed Howard “it’s kind of cosy, hey Jase?” he said shuffling up to this mate and putting an arm around the small of his friend’s back. For once, Jason didn’t try to shy away from his true feelings; he shimmied closer to Howard and rested his head on his shoulder. The two men made the perfect couple, sitting together and looking into the flames of the fire. Gary, politely, looked away to give them some privacy, but in doing so, he caught the eye of Mark. He looked away quickly, for he knew that look in his friend’s eyes. It was not the usual and passionate “let’s fuck now, Gaz” look; it was the hurt and neglected look. And Gary hated it because it made him feel guilty. Especially, when Mark was wearing those big sad eyes, instead of his big, irresistible smile - it wasn’t right. Mark hadn’t even started to make his toast; he was hungry for another thing. Gary.

“Here you go.” He said to Mark “you can have mine, I’ll make some more.” He said handing over his toast to his despondent companion.

“Thanks” said Mark quietly, it was not that he was ungrateful, he was just pissed that Gary had not said something as suggestive as Howard had to Jason, “lucky sod” he thought to himself.

“Do you know what I think we should do?” said Jason after they had finished tea “I think that we should have a sing-song around the camp fire.”

“Nah, it’s a bit boring isn’t it?” said Howard “I mean, we have no music.”

“Don’t be daft.” Said Gary “I’ve brought my guitar.”

“Ace!” said Jason as he took the guitar from Gary and strummed it. “What do you think we should murder, I mean, sing first?”

“Kumbaya!” said Howard “That’s a classic.”

“Alright then, after three. One, two, three.”

“Kumbaya, my Lord, Kumbaya...” they sang well into the night. Howard and Jason were still acting like the match made in heaven, which hurt Mark further, as Gary hadn’t been sending him any signs all night. “What is going on?” he thought. However, despite whatever everyone was truly feeling, there was a genuine air of happiness about the camp. That was until they decided to call it a night.

“Night guys!” called Howard and Jason before getting into their tents.

“Night, you two.” Gary called back

“See ya.” Mumbled Mark

As surreptitiously as Jason and Howard thought they had done it, Gary and Mark new that a few minutes later Howard had got out of his tent and slipped into Jason’s. Mark lay there, still, in his sleeping bag, uncomfortable on the cold, hard floor. Gary wasn’t kidding when he said that this tent was old, there were lots of small holes in the top and down one side where the moths had been. It was letting in a bitter cold draft, making Mark snuggle further down in his sleeping bag. He turned over onto his front and found the warm part where he had just been lying, he shut his eyes and pretended he was snuggling up to Gary.

“Faster, Faster Jason, yeah... aw fuck!!”

“Shh you! The others will hear us!”

“...Don’t care... deeper... shit yes!”

Mark couldn’t take it much longer. He had been awake for hours, freezing cold and listening to his friends fuck each other in the neighbouring tent was really not helping. “God! I am never camping again.” He whispered to himself. “This is shit, I’m cold and pissed off and -” he stopped as he heard the zip of Gary’s tent being opened. He held his breath. “Finally!” he thought to himself. He made a grab for his condoms and lube from the bottom of his tent and started to prepare himself. He was really rushing knowing that Gary would be there any minute now. He had managed to finish and he waited.

“What’s he waiting for?” he thought

He put his bottoms back on and grabbed his coat and slowly unzipped his tent. The first thing he saw, as he looked out, was the campfire; now just a warm glow. He looked around and saw Gary standing a distance way, facing the hills and valleys that faced their camp. He was looking up at the sky. Cautiously, Mark walked over to Gary, he heard someone approaching and turned around.

“Hey, Mark.” He whispered softly, his breath visible in the fresh night air.

“Hya.” Replied Mark

“Are you alright, mate?” he asked gently

“Yeah, it’s just, I can’t sleep. Mostly ‘cos of Mr and Mrs’ nocturnal activities” he said, nodding over at Jason’s tent “And I’m freezing cold, did you know that there’re a million and one holes in that tent.”

Gary smiled at his friend’s humour, relieved to see that perfect “Mark” smile.

“That’s not what I meant.” He said in his deep, soft voice “You haven’t been yourself.”

“I’m just out of my comfort zone. Camping is all new to me and...Well... I’m a little... scared, if that’s the word to use. Anyway...” he continued, trying to cover up his confession to Gary “Why are you up?”

“Come here.” He whispered, with an arm out stretched to Mark “Look up there” he said as he manoeuvred mark gently in front of him and delicately wrapped his arms around him “Look at the stars, aren’t they beautiful?” He asked him softly, his warm breath caressing Mark’s neck.

“Not as beautiful as you.” Mark’s reply was barely a whisper. He turned around in Gary’s arms to face him; he looked deep into his friend’s eyes “I love you Gary. I don’t know if you feel the same way, but, I love you.” he sighed as tears welled in his eyes.

“Of course I do.” Came Gary’s reply, as he hugged Mark to his chest.

Mark looked up at him “Say it.” He pleaded

“I love you, Mark, you know that I love you and I will never stop loving you until the day I die. Even then, I will still love you.”

Mark buried his face into Gary’s firm chest and Gary tightened his grip around Mark.

“Your shaking.” He said

“I’mmm ffffine.” He shivered.

“Let’s get you inside... and warm you up.”

Mark didn’t catch onto Gary’s meaning and didn’t want to break away from this perfect embrace. Gary led Mark to his tent. He undressed himself and mark, before lying down together in his sleeping bag. Mark shut his eyes and snuggled up to Gary’s warm body.

“Don’t be scared, Markie.” He soothed “Your safe with me.”

---------------------------------------------

Two hours later...

The two men lay next to each other, their chests rising and falling rapidly. They looked dishevelled and sweaty.

“Gaz?” Mark said breathlessly “Can we come camping next weekend?”

“I thought it wasn’t your thing.” Said Gary facetiously

“I’ve changed my mind.”

“Is that so.” Said Gary raising an eyebrow

“I’ve found it to be exciting, energetic and pleasurable. I think that it has defiantly brought us closer together. Don’t you think?” Mark said with a smile

“How much closer do you want us to get?” joked Gary

“Let e show you.” he said climbing on top of Gary for round two.

-----------------------------------------------

“Fuck yes! Fuck...shit, that’s good!”

Howard and Jason looked at each other with sarcastic expressions as they sat around the newly lit campfire, at five thirty the next morning, toasting marshmallows for breakfast.

“And they say we make too much noise!” Howard criticised.

“Up for camping next weekend?” asked Jason with a smile

“Hell yes!” was Howard’s reply.
