Wow, been over a month I see..

Apr 25, 2007 21:25

As the length of my subaticle implies, I've been rather busy.. not that it's any different from the norm, just stating the obvious I suppose.  Well along with how my posts usually go, this post is primarily concerned with school news.  I suppose I shall start off with my grades from last quarter which are as follows:

Fourth-year Japanese            --  A+
Classical Japanese                --  A+
Intermediate Chinese             --  A+
Intermediate Korean               -- (A+)   **this class was unoficially audited**
EA 190 Chinese Biography    --  B+
EA 160 Japanese Cinema     --  A
EA 117 Chinese Philosophy  --  A-

Wow, where did that "B" come from? Anyways.. almost cost me my scholarships, what an annoying dilemma that was.. having to talk to admin about not revoking my full scholarship status due to me falling .01 GPA shy of the minimum required (min = 3.75, I got 3.74)

Blah, beyond that crap I suppose the next order of events should naturally be my schedule for next quarter:

Fourth-year Japanese  (Jap 101C)
Intermediate Chinese  (Chi 2C)
Intermediate Korean  (Kor 2C)
Postwar Japan  (History 172F)
Images of Japan  (EA 120)

Now, this next piece of news is something I orignally wasn't going to post, but in my moment of pride I wanted to post that I received my last acceptance letter for graduate school.  I am excited to say that I've been accepted to ALL 10 schools I applied to!!

United States
-- UCI
-- UCLA
-- UC Berkeley
-- Stanford University
-- Brown University
-- Yale University
-- Harvard University
-- Princeton University

Japan
-- 東京大学 Tokyo University
-- 大阪大学 Osaka University

Now.. to put a halt on what, perhaps, is the most natural question, I will NOT be submitting a letter of intent to any school at this time.  I really do not feel like delving into the reasons as to why I'm choosing not to immediately go to graduate school at this moment.

In other news, my Tae Kwon Do studio had a demonstration last Saturday at Doheny State Beach Park in Dana Point and it went really well!  Two instructors (Johnny and Trevor) and myself had a lot of fun and had a great response from the crowd!  We had our mishaps, but all in all I think everything went really well, especially Johnny and Trevor put out a great effort and really wowed the crowd countless times.  Oh yeah, by the way, I will be testing for my 4th degree, making me an official master, in the first week of June. So, let me know if you want to come out to cheer me on! I'm going to be so incredibly nervous I'll definitely need the support. It's like the culmination of my nearly decade and a half of training is coming to the apex, and yet.. for some reason, I'm more scared than excited.  I guess it's because I will most likely be leaving sometime late this year or early next year for Japan, Taiwan, or possibly even South Korea.  I just can't imagine not going to work and teaching kids and just the environment as a whole at my Tae Kwon Do studio.  I know Tae Kwon Do will always be a part of me, but I'm going to feel so uncomfortable without it in my everyday life.  *sigh*...

In bad news, due to financial turmoil, my father has to, yet again, return to Iraq.  He leaves at the end of this month.. or in about 5 days or so.  Just when I thought things would die down and my family would be able to relax... that green bitch had to rear its ugly head and ninja-kick us back to anxiety and fear.  However, as I always say, if there's anyone who can go and come back alive, it's my dad.

Sorry to end on a sad note, but I guess I'm going to just leave it at that for now. I really need to get back to my Japanese essay.  I got sick last week with a bad case of bronchitis and it still has not passed so I'm quite under the weather, let alone after being at work all day I'm just about to keel over.  Alright, take care everyone!  =D

P.S.  I fractured my right foot at work tonight!! >.< ZOIKS@!
