Ok... Did a premptive strike and phoned British airways about items i could take on hand baggage.
Lately I've got back into my crafts and since I'm going to spend an awful lot of time in airports and since my PSP has died i thought I'd take my crochet about with me. I got bamboo hooks so .. no problem right?
WRONG
obviously morons who work at BA have never heard of crochet and all they hear is "HOOKS, NEEDLES! danger whoop whoop sound the alarms".
let us review the conversation I just had on the phone...
Me, BA-Twunt
Me: Hi,, I'mflying out to the US on monday would like to clarify about hand luggage items
BAT: Ok
Me: Is it ok to take onboard a crochet hook.. (mid sentence)
BAT: No, no pointed items allowed
Me:... as i was saying, its Bamboo, not metal and its not pointed at all its blunt
BAT: excuse me
~stupid hold music for 3 min or so
BAT: Sorry you're not allowed any hooks or needles on the plane.
Me: but its less offensive than a pencil?
BAT: they'd confiscate those off you too at security.
Me: ooook then. cheers...
BAT: (overlty cheersful ) byeee!
*click*
NOW you mean to tell me they are going to confiscate every single persons biro and pencil and anything longer than 3 inches made of any material out of bags?
Kinda making me think i should put it in my hair as an ornament... i mean REALLY
OMG! she's got 5 inches of 5.5mm bamboo! she's going to double-crochet us unless we land the plane in Fiji!
i say "Pffffft" in disgust.
