Bag 1.

not too bad. Not fantastic. The pattern seems to have a piece for EVERYTHING instead of the usual 1 piece with printed "Cut 1 of fabric, cut 2 of lining" etc. But not a problem.

The pattern seems to be for heavy fabrics rather than leather, so i figured i could dispense with the lining since the backside of the leather was nice n soft.

The seams turned out a little thicker than i liked, so turning through gives a kind of "pouffy" effect - hmmmm...

the flap trim looked nasty in contrast and i think should only be attempted as fabric trim for contrast to cover the edges or same coloured leather cut to match the edge to give it weight. Anything else is prone to needle marks and generally highlighting my dodgy stitching.

Folded loops for hanging wouldn't go under the needle and flat leather really ought to have had stitching down the edges....

So amendments will be for bag 2:

1) seams to outside. Give it a rugged look (and possibly fabric trim round these)
2) lining flap to cover edges? otherwise same leather trim or contrast fabric bind edge.
3) make sure button loop is big enough and high enough. Place rather than stitch so it can be drawn through the nifty loop which will be stitched on 2 sides not 4 (hey i was tired...)
4) actually, fold n sew the middle of the pull-through loop - its going to have a lot of wear on that area for just a raw edge. But leave flat parts to sew to the bag since thickness n all that.
5) find a frigging button for the bloody loop!
6)... I'm sure there was a 6
