Carpe Diem

Me: Hey Curtis Mayfield.
Curtis: Yeah, Richard?
Me: I'm getting scared, depressed, anxious, and excited about college all at once.
Curtis: Really now?
Me: Yeah, could you help me out?
Curtis: I think I got just the right song for you.
Me: Thanks man.

Hush now child,
and don't you cry
Your folks might understand you
by and by
Move on up
towards your destination
You may find
from time to time
Complications

Bight your lip
and take a trip
Though there may be
wet road ahead
You cannot slip
So move on up
and peace you will find
Into the steeple
of beautiful people
Where there's only one kind

So hush now child
and don't you cry
Your folks might understand you
by and by
Just move on up
and keep on wishing
Remember your dreams
are your only schemes
So keep on pushing
Take nothing less -
not even second best
And do not obey -
you must have your say
You can past the test

Move on up!

Last night, I went through memories of my entire life thus far in a matter of moments. It's scary to know that you've gone through 18 years of life and it doesn't feel like anything. Time slips through our fingers like sand and we can't control it. All we can do is just make the most out of it. Little images in our head are gonna be the only things left from those moments, so cherish them.

I'm still scared. Ready, but scared.

Thanks for the music, Curtis Mayfield.
