some things

* the chiefs are going to suck this year. oh well. wilson says we need a 48" screen so we can have 8 games in one screen. hmmmm. that feels like a lot. i do like our fantasy team though: can't beat peyton manning and reggie bush ....

* the left shift key is broken on my computer. this likely has to do with the two -- not one but *TWO* diet cokes that i have spilled in my keyboard. i can't help it if have to work all the time, even when i am drinking diet cokes! and despite disassembling the left shift key multiple times i still can't get it to work. ack!!! my keyboard commands are shot and this is distressing. what's a girl to do?

*i'm supposed to play 2 shows this weekend: friday night at the leaf & bean and sunday at music on the lawn at the museum of the rockies with montana rose. yipes. i am under-practiced. and my ex-coworkers will be present sunday. so. oh boy. *nervous laugh*

* the broken left shift key has seriously hampered my ability to type the way i want to type. who uses the right shift key? oh, i do. now, anyway. it's tough. good thing i forsook capital letters a long time ago.

* (gotta use the right shift to make a {* ( ! @ $ < >?) } ) everything. jeez!!!

* it's september and the days are getting noticeably shorter and i'm depressed already. it's like if don't get about 17 hours of daylight then things aren't so pretty good. so i should live in alaska for 1/2 the year, and ushuaia, argentina, for the other half of the year. this would make things pretty good all the time. it's weird how sensitive i am to it .... weird, or sad, or ... SAD ... or something. i've been in a funk and i know the waning summer is to blame. but! i am looking forward to fall (supposed to be in the 30s here this weekend!) and winter and lots of good skiing .... so .... there's that too.

* this right shift thing sucks. did i mention that? i suppose it is somehow good for my whole brain, but still! annoying!

* wilson and i leave next thursday for the yaak!!! or: the yaak valley, in the very northwest corner of montana, bordering idaho and canada. this is how big montana is: it will take us 7 hours to go from our house, in southwestern montana, to the old fire lookout tower we rented near yaak, in very northwestern montana. far out! one of wilson's ex-coworkers told her the other day that it is "deliverance county" and we should be ready for that. but whatevs! montana in general can be deliverance county and we have thus far persevered. so: i ain't skeered. plus: i have vowed to draw the whole thing as a comic strip! much like my 2006 goal was to do a comic a day. which i didn't manage. so i figure a long weekend is at least doable. 'specially when there's: no electricity, no water, no toilet, no anything but me and wilson and whatever we manage to bring that doesn't require or somehow accommodate the no's above. so, we are going to hike and fish in some of the most roadless areas left in this whole country, which is fairly cool. even if crazy backcountry people do come hack us up with knives in the night ... and i'm getting a pedicure when we get back, so ha ha scary deliverance backcountry knife-and/or-gun-wielding crazy mofo peeps!

* i bought a hammock and it is my new favorite thing. wilson says she is sad because i bought it for myself and she didn't buy it for me, so my new favorite thing is something i got for myself .... but oh! it's fabulous! and 100% portable!

* wilson and mae and frida and i did my very favorite montana hike this past sunday --- beehive basin! we do it at least once every year, and every year it reminds me why it's my favorite. perhaps you can understand from the pics .... oh, and ps: i live here!

frida (tongue out) did the hike about 47 times what with running ahead and back and forth and thus:

mae enjoys the view:

wilson catches a high altitude lake cutthroat trout:

wilson fishes (tiny speck!) while i explore the higher ups (and stumble upon a brilliant campsite at about 9,000 feet!):

blaze mountain (with stripes, and 10,335 feet) and gallatin peak to its right (11,015 feet) dominate the views:

* ok, so: who wants to come visit?
