There are a lot of actually really, really famous people with these journals. Like, not that figure skaters aren't famous or whatever, no offense, but I mean like the kind of musicians that people throw underwear at (which they don't do in figure skating or, I'm pretty sure, speed skating either) and there are a lot of actors, and it's weird. 'Cause I'm looking around and it's like, "Hey, I watched you all the time when I was a kid (which you might notice wasn't too long ago, honestly), dude, that's awesome!" And they're probably like, "Oh yeah, hey, you're that girl on Letterman who didn't know how to sit right in a chair." Like, if that.
I think I started thinking about this because of watching the Oscars. It sort of bummed me out, I'm not gonna lie. Shaun and I both got invites, and he dropped out of the competition to go. But you know me, I figured, hey, that's cool and everything and it's great that people get to celebrate what they do and, you know, it's nice to really think that maybe they all do it 'cause they love it and don't want the money, and it's nice to just say, "Good job." That's awesome. But that's basically what weekends like this are about for what we do, and I'm not saying I judge Shaun, because it's probably even good for the sport in the long run, the way he gets promoted and everything, but it's kind of like, I wanted to have priorities.
So I hung around here, and I hung out with my girls, and my brothers were here.
It was a good weekend, don't get me wrong, but then I didn't get to compete, because my knee's still pretty -- well, like honestly, it's kind of fucked. And it sucks. I probably just overdid it doing those runs to practice yesterday, which was stupid, because I only really did them because it was feeling kind of stiff and then I got anxious. But it's like, well yeah, if your knee's acting up, then maybe you shouldn't go straining it a whole lot.
I'm seriously not complaining, and I know it sounds like it. But seriously, I'm not that lame, I'm just kind of worried, you know, honestly. It's like the middle of the season, and if this keeps acting up, I don't know, it just would've been nice to carry some of the momentum from Torino into the rest of the year and maybe improve a little. In Bardonecchia I got a cortisone shot on the day of, but it's not like that's a good option every time, you know?
Something else I watched today, besides seeing everybody compete and watching the Oscars, was this movie Highway that actually belongs to my brother Elijah, but I steal it off him a lot. He buys most of his DVDs really discount on sale, so then they're usually all this really great stuff that people haven't heard of. It's kind of insane. This movie's got Jared Leto and Jake Gyllenhaal actually and there's this road trip and, like, it's really pretty gay, if I'm being honest, even by Jake Gyllenhaal standards.
I don't know why I mentioned that, except that it made me laugh when I was watching the Oscars tonight.
My ice bag melted again, which is why I started writing this, 'cause I really just wanted to put off going to get the ice for a new one. So I'm gonna do that now.
