from the sleep section: everything here is good. you can pretty much get these things everywhere and most of the time pretty cheap.
study: i don't know how your dorms are set up but ours come with a desk and a chair. however the chair is really uncomfortable so you might want to get a seat pillow for that.
lounge: music system = computer. and boyfriend pillows are a must! they are the ones with the arms that you lean against. we would take them into other people's rooms during real world parties.
style: bins are a neccessity
organize: a bin for shower stuff is good. make sure it drains tho or be prepared to clean it out.
my own personal:
~don't forget a board for the door.
~lots of photos of friends
~3M removable sticky tabs
hmm thats all the basics, based on what i know. let me know if you still need me to help u move

where is the best place to one-stop-shop for all this though, someplace affordable and not over-rated.
i move in the 20th, but my parents want to help for some reason, and they're getting offended whenever i say i don't need them.

target is good, so is linens and things, they have a sheet set for 7 bucks in the month of august. i'd go to linens and things. but i just love that store.

that's what i planned on- i just needed reassurance that it was a good place to dorm shop. what about bed bath and beyond? is that a good place?

I did Bed Bath and Beyond, Linens and Things, Target, EVERYWHERE. (SO no one stop-shop for me hehe). But I think I got a lot at Target. Lately it seems every store short of Kroger has dorm stuff.

You really don't need a phone, unless you plan on using it often. Dorms usually have the crappy old school phones.

Check and see if your school has mini-fridges in the room.

I doubt you'll want window coverings because you can't install them probably.

Also, be careful about what kind of wall decor you buy. You probably aren't allowed to put holes in the walls. It's $50 per hole at OSU. That could get expensive.

As for things not on the list, get bed risers if you aren't going to have bunked beds. They'll allow you to stuff all kinds of crap under your bed.

that's where the storage bins will go, under my bed. but the beds have notches on them where you can raise or lower the mattress.so i dont think i need raisers, but they do look pretty spiffy, sometimes. and you're right, no holes in the walls. which is really sad. especially if i wanted to hang pictures. i guess the tape and poster method is best... but not as cool.
i just hope i can make it look cool. maybe with lamps and rugs?

I had to bring a phone because my school's dorms suck. But yeah I guess some have then in the room already. But most people just use cell phones anyway.

You don't have phones?!?!? I see the value of my public education everyday. We get free fridges, free microwaves, and free phones. I may later discover that we also get other free crap.
