[Sleeping the morning away is a displaced, soon to be very confused little shrine maiden. The alarm clock beside her bed going off, she groans before turning over groggily and sitting up. She stretches, slowly opening up her eyes and staring off into space.]

Good morning... Huh? This isn't my futon.

[Unfortunately for Rider, she has somewhat of an intimidating stare. Sanae raises her shoulders a little.]

Uh, excuse me...

I know not where you are from, but you are no longer anywhere you recognize. And here, in Mayfield, we are expected to live as families.

You have been placed in mine.

Mayfield? Did Lady Yasaka move the shrine again and not say anything? But I thought that we were finally settling in in Gensokyo--

Huh? Wait, families? Placed? I don't think I understand.

You are in a town known as Mayfield. Any powers or possessions you may have had are now gone, and you are expected to live your life like a happy, "normal" person.

No one knows who is responsible for this. However, your powers will come back in time. They are not lost forever.

They come back? How?

They come in the form of letters or packages sent to us by the mayor. But they only seem to come during or after an event.

An event? Like a festival?

...No. The town alters itself or puts us through some sort of trial. There was a week where we were forced into a game with people's lives at stake. And I have also been told that the people here once had to go a full week without food.

[Her eyes get a little wide, and suddenly she is very quiet.]

That... that's horrible...
