Hi. Um... My name's Simon. I pilot Lagann, the little robot from earlier. You probably already heard about my bro, Kamina; we come from the same little underground village, Jeeha. We escaped from there, and... we're here now, I guess.

[This kid again...] Hey. It's been a while. Enjoying the surface world?

[digs_holes]

Oh, hey. Um... yeah, I am. It's bright, and there's a lot of weird stuff to get used to up here, but it's a lot more interesting than the village was. No earthquakes, either. Except for when we're in battle, though.

[leftjoker]

Earthquakes? In an underground village? ['The kind of damage that would cause-'] Ah, sorry if I brought up any troubling memories, I was just surprised that your village chose a location that suffered from earthquakes.

It was pretty bad. We had them pretty often... every few days, usually. A lot of the time, though, it was just big things moving over the ground above us. That was why we were going to escape, to see the surface, and to escape the earthquakes. When we got up here, and figured out what was causing the quakes... it was a little hard to believe. I mean, giant machines? Who would believe that?

[leftjoker]

[Just... sort of coughs awkwardly.]

So what have you been up to since you separated from us, Simon-kun?

[digs_holes]

Well, I mean, to us underground. We don't have anything like that in the village. If we want to get something done, we do it ourselves. All our exploration and expansion was done by people, with hand drills. [Simon still has his, in fact, and pulls it out of his jacket for emphasis.]

The last little while? A lot of exploring. There's a lot to see here on the surface... everything's so different. I wouldn't have dreamed that some of things I've been seeing existed, before I came up here. My bro Kamina's been with me too.

Just a little bit ago, I ran across the ship again, but I didn't catch up until just a little bit ago. I didn't have a chance to get close while you all were under attack just recently.

There's something to be said about that kind of tenacity, to create something with nothing but your own two hands [the drill clearly not counting]. Still, I'm happy you were able to catch up with us during a lull in our battles. It's good to have you back, Simon-kun

We were proud of ourselves. Well, I was, at least. I'm not so sure everyone else was, but I did my best to help the village grow. Now... I'm kinda glad I'm up here. I miss Jeeha a little, but I wouldn't trade this for anything.

I'm glad to be back. Maybe now I can relax for a little while. It's been rough going, these last few months, so having someone else to watch my back will be a nice change of pace.
