I'm testing whether or not wood is a viable substance to repair or build mecha out of.

[Using it for makeshift defences and building reinforcement maybe. Mecha repairs? No way jose]

Well, you would have to entirely rework the basic structure of the machine. And you of course lose a huge amount of durability and potential size. But wood is way more plentiful than metal, so it might be worth it if someone could find a good ratio of size, weight and power output.
