In the middle of the day, there was nothing Hagrid liked more than a retreat to a quiet little place for a cuppa. Pinpricks of water just didn't make good substitutes---"watch where yer pointin' that, eh!"---not in his opinion. A proper time to sit down and mull over the rush of the day included tea, there was just no getting around it. After trading some new growings 'round his little garden for tea leaves someone had picked up from a shore leave, he found a meaty cushion on the Observation Deck that looked like it might hold him and got to work.

That then led Hagrid to his next issue: proper tea required the heating of water. He'd found a rusty little metal thing to pour it in and some type of cylindrical that could be a cup, thankfully, but what about the fire? Strictly speaking, he wasn't to use magic, but what else could he do? Try one of those blasted Muggle contraptions? Nah, that little clipper from one of them engineers had nearly chewed his face right off.

So. Little tap of the umbrella and quick burst of flame it was. He hoped no one was around to see that. If anyone came by, he'd wave and greet them to ward off questions. "Hello there! Mind settlin' down for a bit?"

Ever a man of nature, Hagrid experienced a vague feeling of unease in the humid and cramped spaces of the ship, entirely filled with people. Where was the fresh air, the excitement? He needed to be meeting creatures to keep him happy, maybe taking care of them a bit too. If there was one good thing about being stuck up here fighting a war for his world, it was the chance to watch nature in motion.

Finally, upon overhearing a talk about someplace called Hydroponics, he got his wish. So that was where they were hiding! Hagrid set off for the place at once, relieved to finally be in a spot with some open space. He searched the skies for creatures of notes. Big ones with leathery wings sweeping the sky, tall feathery creatures and---whoops. He stumbled back a step or two to avoid stepping on a little pink thing rolling in the dirt.

None was more fascinating to him, though, than the enormous raptor stalking the landscape. Four arms and shining claws? No doubt he must have an interesting tale to tell.

"Well aren' yeh a beaut. Hello there!"

Naturally, the leenkat ignored the prey it couldn't eat. Without a second glance, it ran off into the distance.

"Huh. 'Spose they don't much like our greetings. Must be some other way to bring it 'round." With that, he took a look around the place and settled to think. Maybe they needed to be offered gifts? Was there a call? He'd watch and learn for a while, trying to figure this out...but whatever this pink thing was, it kept butting against his hand. He supposed it couldn't hurt to roll it gently. For a half-giant, gentle was a feat, but the little pink thing seemed to like it.
