Homecoming.

His eyes opened almost reluctantly as his body decided he'd slept for long enough. It was about eight hours, give or take, but the best thing was that he wasn't waking up alone. With the blankets tugged over them, he had Spencer in his arms, and apparently he was sleeping peacefully. It was everything he'd wanted for so long. Everything he'd missed.

Smiling, he let his eyes close again, though he knew he wasn't going to go back to sleep just yet. He was just going to savor this wonderful morning with the person he loved held against him.

How long had it been since he'd actually felt at peace when he woke up? He knew how, even with Haley toward the end, he'd dreaded every morning. He'd wondered what it was he'd say today to make her angry. What he'd do that would make her give him that look that said, very plainly, that he was less than a bug beneath her shoe.

It had actually scared him, how easily he'd slipped back into that mindset. Be as good as he could for every moment he could and maybe he wouldn't get in trouble. Just like with his father. The difference was that he didn't think of Haley as abusive. She was just reacting to what he'd done - and she'd reached the end of her rope.

Morgan had struggled with his faith, but Hotch had never quite been sure if there was or wasn't a God. All he knew now was that he was sending up a silent prayer that, if there was a God, that God would help him not to mess this chance up like he had the first one.
