I'm tired of telling people that I've been really bad at LJ lately, so I'm going to prove the fact that I'm bad at LJ! ; )

Hard to remember where I left off and too lazy to check. Started my new job at the end of August, so I'm working with all manner of goofy looking MIPS machines. Probably the weirdest thing since I've gotten here is that apparently no one knows how anything works, so I've been doing my best impression of a sponge.

(Seriously -- ask someone "How do you build package X?" and you'll get a response "Oh, well, I use this old system and it doesn't really work for anyone else. It uses the old build system and sometimes I have to rerun it a couple of times...". Interesting history if you have the stomach to sit there and listen, but pretty annoying if you're a new person who wants to figure out how to get their bits on a box.)

I just finished dropping a bunch of cash on the 300ZX getting the transmission rebuilt -- I just don't have the space to do it at home and I have a friend whose shop I trust. It's really annoying having one car especially since she's working two jobs which take all of her time. End result is that I end up telecommuting and she ends up driving my car while I slowly go stir crazy.

About 3 days after getting the car back, K~ was turning a corner and saw a chunk of concrete in the road. Instead of swerving to avoid it or stopping, she figured she could just go over it. Well...sports cars -- especially Japanese sports cars -- don't give you a whole lot of ground clearance. It bent the frame good and mashed the radiator.

Anyway -- back to the shop it goes and I'm back to grumbling about not having my car.

One funny thing came out of it -- in a facebook conversation, someone mentioned that something was wrong with their car. When someone else asked what was wrong, I asked "Did K~ drive your car too?"
